- Nigel McGuinness surprised a lot of people with the announcement that the last entry in the field of 16 is none other than Mark Briscoe! While Jay Briscoe is still slated to be out of action for the next 3-6 months due to the severe shoulder injury that forced McGuinness to strip him of the World Title, Mark will be cleared by the doctors one day before Providence on July 26th! It will be very interesting to see what Jay has to say about this!

- You the fans let your voice be heard and because of that ACH is in the ROH World Championship Tournament based on your Facebook votes! We enjoy the interactivity with all of the great fans and your vote definitely counted. For all of those who participated... we thank you.

- Everyone loves the pre-show Q&A's that we have recently held. Over the weekend Nigel McGuinness answered the fans questions plus announced The Young Bucks would be making their ROH return at "All Star Extravaganza V" in Toronto and in Providence The Forever Hooligans will step into The Proving Ground with the World Tag Team Champions reDRagon! It should be noted that Jimmy Jacobs also interrupted the Q&A on both nights. Expect the entire Q&A from both Milwaukee and Dearborn to be available soon to Ringside Members and also expect more pre-show Q&A's at future ROH events.

- In the biggest pinfall victory of his career, World Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish defeated Davey Richards in Milwaukee last Saturday in an incredible main event. This match was worth the price of admission alone and has solidified Bobby Fish as one of the best wrestlers in the company today.

- The World Tag Team Titles are the forefront of ROH and Match Maker Nigel McGuinness is certainly keeping the division red hot! On July 27th in Providence The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) will step into The Proving Ground with the World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) in an attempt to earn a future Tag Title Match! The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) will make their long-awaited & highly-demanded return on August 3rd in Toronto, as part of the “All Star Extravaganza V plus The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) will challenge O'Reilly & Fish for the World Tag Team Titles in Toronto! If The Forever Hooligans prove victorious in their Proving Ground match on 7/27, then on August 17th in NYC they will challenge the winner of the reDRagon/Wolves bout!

- Remember that originally Match Maker Nigel McGuinness wanted to include BOTH Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards in the ROH World Championship Tournament given their respective championship resumes. However both men respectfully declined in order to spend their summer focused on capturing the ROH World Tag Team Titles in the possession of reDRagon. The Wolves focus and passion is second to none and they want to elevate the ROH tag team division to a level that it has never been before.

- Speaking of tag teams... Scott "Jagged" Parker and "Big Magic" Shane Matthews, The Team of 3.0, return to ROH in Providence on July 27th!

- Michael Bennett showed a new attitude in Milwaukee and Dearborn that produced 2 huge wins. "The First Lady of ROH" Maria Kanellis has stated that this new attitude will ensure that Bennett is the next ROH World Champion.

On July 27th Ring of Honor returns to Providence and the RI Convention Center for a round of “Ring of Honor” Wrestling TV Tapings! Highlighting this event will be THREE first round bouts in the World Title Tournament as well as a Proving Ground battle pitting the ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) against the current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) with a potential ROH World Tag Title match on the line!

Now ROHWrestling.com has been informed of two more match-ups signed for that evening including a huge 6-man tag!

First up, after the events on recent episodes of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, Michael Bennett has parted ways with his long time trainer Brutal Bob and done so in violent fashion. Now, at the surprising request of Brutal Bob, Match Maker Nigel McGuinness has signed a bout for Providence pitting the former Prodigy against his former trainer!

Will Brutal Bob give Bennett a beating like he used to back in Mike's greener days or will it be Michael Bennett who shows that the student has surpassed the teacher? We will find out in Providence on the 27th and you can guarantee that Maria will be in the corner of her man that night!


We have also learned that McGuinness has signed a huge 6-Man Tag for that evening that he told ROHWrestling.com is “Honor Personified”! It will be “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin, “The Sicilian Psychopath” Tommaso Ciampa, and Kevin Steen versus BJ Whitmer & The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)!

“You may find it shocking that I would call this honor personified given that I selected Steen to participate.” said McGuinness to ROHWrestling.com, “But I believe in my heart, after watching Kevin closely since he lost the title to Jay Briscoe, and particularly with how he stood up for Ring of Honor in Steel Cage Warfare, I believe that he truly has rediscovered that honor he had some years ago before Steve Corino got into his ear. As for the others, well there is no argument that BJ, Elgin, and The Wolves stood for honor throughout the battles with S.C.U.M and I have certainly seen Ciampa, since he returned in Toronto, show that his path is an honorable one which he hopes leads to the World Title. These 6-man represent the best elements ROH has to offer and in Providence they will no doubt show why we are the best pro wrestling on the planet!”

NEW JAPAN’S KUSHIDA IS COMING TO ROH!
All Star Extravaganza Gets Even Bigger...



On August 3rd Ring of Honor heads north to Toronto for a star-studded event we just had to call "All Star Extravaganza V"! The Current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) will be in action, The Young Bucks and Brian Kendrick make their return to Ring of Honor, Paul London is back in action, the ROH World Title Tournament continues, plus there will be a whole lot more!!

Now that the negotiations have been finalized with New Japan Pro Wrestling, we can now also announce that on August 3rd, one of the most exciting stars of NJPW will make his ROH debut! At "All Star Extravaganza V", the ROH faithful north of the border will see the debut of KUSHIDA!

One-half of The Time Splitters alongside ROH alum Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA made his pro wrestling debut in September 2006 after training with the legendary Nobuhiko Takada as well as under the wing of Yoshihiro Tajiri. Initially breaking in as an MMA combatant in the ZST promotion, his focus turned to professional wrestling and his journey to NPJW took him from HUSTLE to All Japan & Osaka Pro to North America where he competed in the US & Canada and eventually back to Japan where he competed first for Tajiri's SMASH promotion before becoming a full-time member of the NJPW roster in early 2011.

Since that time KUSHIDA has captured the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship alongside Shelley, a title they defeated the Forever Hooligans to claim in November 2012 and lost back to Romero & Koslov in May of this year. The pair also claimed the crown in the 2012 Super Jr. Tag Tournament after defeating Apollo 55 (Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi) in the finals.

Now KUSHIDA will make his Ring of Honor debut on August 3rd in Toronto and his opponent will be determined by the Adam Page/Silas Young bout that goes down in Providence on July 27th. The winner will advance to the World Title Tournament and take on Tommaso Ciampa at "All Star Extravaganza V" and the loser will get the opportunity to take on KUSHIDA one-on-one!

THE RINGMASTER'S CHALLENGE RETURNS!
It's Cole and Strong In Alabama....



At "Death Before Dishonor IX" in NYC, it was Roderick Strong and Eddie Edwards who clashed in the first ever Ringmaster's Challenge. It was a 2/3 Falls match, ultimately won by "Die Hard" in a Sudden Death overtime period, but with some very specific stipulations.

The 1st fall of the challenge could ONLY end via pin and it was Roderick who picked up the victory in that initial fall while the 2nd fall, won by Eddie Edwards, could only be won with a submission. The 3rd and final match of the contest was contested under 15 minute Iron Man rules but when those 15 minutes concluded there was no decisive winner. On the spot, then-Executive Producer Jim Cornette declared there would be a Sudden Death OT and after 40+ minutes of war, Edwards finally picked up the victory.

It has been almost two years since that bout but on September 7th, when ROH debuts in Birmingham at Boutwell Auditorium, the Ringmaster's Challenge will make its return! And what better combatant to make up one-half of the contest than Roderick Strong...

"This is a test of everything a wrestler has to bring to the table." said Roderick to ROHWrestling.com, "It's heart and conditioning, grappling and submissions, and I gotta say that you'd be hard pressed to find a guy in ROH that's in better condition than me. So with everything that's been happening the last couple months between me and a certain Adam Cole...spitting on the Code, and the way he took the countout to beat me at Best in the World, not to mention the way we ended up with a DQ on TV, I think it's safe to say that Cole is afraid he can't hang with Mister ROH. Step up to the plate, kid. How about we set aside the World Title tournament for one night in Alabama and we do this with a Ringmaster's challenge?"

According to Match Maker Nigel McGuinness, Adam Cole has agreed to the bout and the return of the Ringmaster's Challenge will go down on September 7th in Birmingham! As Strong said it's a test of heart, conditioning, and skill and it will put both Roderick and Cole through the wringer! Once again the rules are as follows:

1st fall: Pinfall only
2nd fall: Submission only
3rd Fall (if necessary): 15 minute Iron man w/ Sudden Death OT if necessary

- Speaking of "Reclamation Night 1 and 2", each of those nights saw Nigel McGuinness not let rule breaking slide so easy for certain competitors. With SCUM no longer around to distract him, Nigel said that he can now focus on rebuilding ROH to what it is truly about. Purity and honor. During Tommaso Ciampa vs. Silas Young in Dearborn, Young originally secured the victory with the use of a hammer but Nigel McGuinness didn't stand for such blatant disregard of the rules and restarted the bout. Also during Matt Taven vs. Kevin Steen, Truth Martini tried to interfere at the end leading to enough distraction that Steen was pinned by Taven. As a result Nigel punished Truth by booking him in a match with Steen immediately. Nigel wants everyone on the roster to know that their will be consequences to illegal activity and the examples are transparent.

Since there isn't a ROH TV thread, I'll just say this in here. The match between Briscoe and Hardy on the last episode of TV was...not good. The entire match seemed really disjointed. Nothing built up to anything and the ending just felt really flat.

WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT UPDATE & HUGE TAG TITLE NEWS!

{Spoiler}On Saturday night Ring of Honor returned to Providence for a round of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings in front of a jam-packed crowd in the Rhode Island Convention Center! It not only marked the kick-off of the World Title Tournament but also saw some major changes in the landscape of ROH's tag team division.

Right off the bat in the first hour of tapings, the scheduled Proving Ground match between World Tag Team Champions reDRagon and IWGP Jr. Tag Champions The Forever Hooligans was switched to a World Tag Team Title defense. For the specifics on how that came about you will have to watch the episode of ROH TV that airs THIS weekend, but suffice to say, as a result we have BRAND NEW World Tag Team Champions in Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov!

The 37th ROH Tag Champions will now head on to “All Star Extravaganza V” THIS Saturday night in Toronto and defend their belts against The American Wolves of Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards in a rematch of their “11th Anniversary” collision! As for reDRagon, in protest of their loss, they have informed ROH officials they will NOT be in attendance at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Saturday night!

Also in the first hour of taping, we saw QT Marshall get inserted into the Adam Page/Silas Young World Title Tournament Qualifying Bout. Unfortunately for Marshall he was also the man who take the loss as Silas Young defeated “God's Gift” and will now advance to “ASE V” to take on Tommaso Ciampa in 1st Round Tournament action! Also as a result of this match, Adam Page will head into Toronto to go one-on-one with New Japan's KUSHIDA in non-tournament action!

As for the three proper tournament matches, in the kick-off bout during the third hour of the tapings, Jay Lethal defeated long-time rival Sonjay Dutt to advance into his second round match-up. Then, in the final hour of tapings, Karl Anderson bested ACH to advance while Adam Cole got the victory over Mark Briscoe to head into his 2nd round battle!

The remainder of the opening round will go down Saturday night in Toronto PLUS Adam Cole & Jay Lethal will collide in the only second round match-up of the night! Here's an updated look at the tournament brackets:

{Spoiler}First off, as mentioned in the article linked above, we have brand new World Tag Team Champions in The Forever Hooligans of Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov! To see exactly how this came about you will have to check out this weekend's episode of ROH TV but we can tell you that the current IWGP Jr. Tag Champions & newly crowned World Tag Team Champions WILL defend the ROH titles against the two men originally scheduled to face reDRagon in Toronto: The American Wolves!

The history between these two teams, particularly Davey Richards and Rocky Romero, has been discussed in the past and the collision at the “11th Anniversary Event” between these two duos left the fans wanting more! Now they will get that opportunity in Toronto when The Forever Hooligans defend the World Tag Team Titles against Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards!!!! As for the former champs, reDRagon has informed Nigel McGuinness they will not be making the trip to Toronto in protest...

Next up, as a result of their mutual victories in their respective first round World Title Tournament match-ups in Providence, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal will go one-on-one in the only Quarter-Final bout of the night! Cole bested Mark Briscoe on Saturday while Lethal took down Sonjay Dutt, and now they will be the first men with an opportunity to advance to the Semi-Finals!

As a result of coming up short in his Qualifying Bout with Silas Young and late entry QT Marshall (check out this week's ROH TV for the details), Adam Page will have the opportunity to go head-to-head with New Japan's own KUSHIDA! This non-tournament bout is without a doubt the biggest challenge of Page's young career as the eyes of the entire wrestling world will be on this match-up!

Plus, The Young Bucks of Matt & Nick Jackson make their return to ROH competition at “All Star Extravaganza V” on Saturday night and their bout has now been finalized! In what is sure to be a chaotic high-flying extravaganza of its own, The Bucks will meet up with BOTH C&C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander) AND Adrenaline RUSH (Tadarius Thomas & ACH) in a First Fall, 3-Way Tag collision!

Plus the first round of the World Title tournament will continue with Kevin Steen vs. Brian Kendrick, Paul London vs. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin, World TV Champion Matt Taven vs. Roderick Strong, Michael Bennett vs. BJ Whitmer, and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Silas Young!

TAG TITLE MATCH SET FOR MANHATTAN MAYHEM V!

Last Saturday night in Providence, as part of the “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings, World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly) were set for a Proving Ground contest against the reigning IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Champions The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov).

Well due to circumstances of reDRagon's own making (as you will see in this weekend's edition of ROH TV), that Proving Ground match became a World Title match and ultimately led to the crowning of brand new champions in Romero & Koslov! In addition, it also shuffled up the scheduled World Tag Title Team bout for “All Star Extravaganza V” this Saturday night in Toronto where Fish & O'Reilly were set to defend their championships against rivals The American Wolves (Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards)!

Now, as a result of their victory, on Saturday The Hooligans will make their first title defense against Eddie & Davey while reDRagon, in protest, has refused to even make the trip across the border to compete at “ASE V”! Still, as the former champions, there is a rematch in their future and ROHWrestling.com has learned that Kyle & Bobby will have their opportunity to reclaim the gold very soon...

“Despite their poor attitudes...” said Match Maker Nigel McGuinness, “Despite the undeniable fact that they requested the title match that ultimately changed their fates, reDRagon is in line for a rematch against whomever leaves Toronto as champion. That title opportunity will go down on August 17th in New York City as part of the 'Manhattan Mayhem V' event and be it The Hooligans or The Wolves, you know that the two teams fighting it out over the championships will show everyone why ROH has the best tag team wrestling on the planet!”
