So it seems it was a work. So the worst version of the Pillman worked shoot Person at the show f*** and I had such high hopes for Elgin, I'm glad I didn't buy his Highspots shoot...well back to the midcard then.

Why are companies still running the worked shoot angle nowadays? Can't that die out with the rest of the lazy mid-90s booking tactics?

That sounds like a lame attempt to pump life into a guy the company had high hopes for after he lost all momentum

I think they were trying to recreate the Kevin Steen angle because it worked so well, but here Elgin doesn't have Steen charisma or a villain (albeit unintentionally) like Cornette.

Well Steen also just said what he was feeling at the time. If this ended up being a work it was stupid because Elgin's reasoning didn't make sense.

Also the intelligence, I mean Steen without a major company behind him ended up having a shit ton of followers, f*** it he even got noticed by The Rock. He hustled a lot, Elgin don't, on most of his interviews outside of wrestling he's simply boring, he has less than ten thousand followers, compare that with Cole's or Jay Briscoe's twitters. I think he has like a kid mentality regarding treating wrestling as a business, I don't know he strikes me as Tony Atlas's level of stupid.

If this is actually a work (there's me being cute still saying if) that's really disappointing the way they're doing this, they usually do a better job with worked shoots.

I'd have even been alright with them putting him back with Truth Martini. The plus side anyways is once Raymond Rowe is back, having War Machine take turns having matches with Elgin should be really badass.

What's this, the 3rd "shoot" angle in ROH in the past 4 months? Getting to ECW levels of trying to work folks with worked shoots.

Only way to save the stupid angle would be to acknowledge Delirious as the booker and have him come out talking normally and Elgin shooting on him lol

Really comes down to "we want these guys over and the same angle worked for Steen" to me. I think it's more of an acknowledgement that they have to do something different with Elgin but just choosing the wrong path. No one would be upset if they never acknowledged Elgin's work visa troubles on screen and just moved into the next storyline. They have to know that trying to get him over like they did Steen would be futile.
