I've gotta go with a 5/10 myself. It's not offensively bad or anything, but it's a pretty dull episode until the CMC's big song, of which the real highlight is Scootaloo's final off-key note.
On the flipside, I actually don't mind Twilight using "my little ponies" within the show.

I can't help but laugh at Eunos' posts thanks to the non-existent line separating sigs from posts, so it looks like a happy Scootaloo is saying all those things.

Well all we saw with the mane 6 was when they actually got their cutie marks. For all we know, some of them could have gone through the same trials and errors as the CMC did growing up. Applejack even said that she was the last in her class to get one. Anyway, after spending quite a bit of time with my family and friends' kids lately, I can agree that sometimes they need things directly spelled out for them, as they're sometimes oblivious to obvious hints. As for the episode itself, it actually got better upon rewatching. The cutie mark montage is definitely one of the best ones of the entire series. And I couldn't help but laugh at how unintentionally bad their entire performance was. I actually enjoyed the episode a lot more than I did the first time. 9/10 The thing is, once the Mane 6 was presented with what their talent was, it clicked with them. With the CMC it hasn't clicked yet. So they are being idiots. Let's not forget everyone else in their class has their mark. Even the two borderline mentally handicapped members of their class. If THOSE two could figure out their talents and obtain their marks, there is absolutely 0 reason for the CMC to not have their marks right now(and actually even further points out how dumb the CMC were being in this episode). There are only two possibilities I can think of for them lacking their marks now(and neither one is because they are kids, as all the other kids in their class and even the Mane 6 got their marks as kids). The first is that the writers don't know how to write the CMC with their marks and just keep them blank as that makes it easier to write for them. I somehow doubt that, though, so onto my second possibility, and that is Hasbro is preventing them, for some damned reason, from getting their marks. Maybe Hasbro for some reason hasn't designed their marks yet, I dunno. Either way, they need their marks fast. Come on, Snips and Snails got their f***ing marks, so why can't they? Well, I'm sure if the CMCs special talents are being slow and dull, they would have their butt tattoos by now. But I know I would rather wait for something cool than something lame like Snips and Snails, or even Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Hell, the reason most of the class has their marks is because they are freaking lame, save Twist who was actually shown to have a cool talent. Maybe the CMC's efforts are because they actually want a special talent.

marketing always finds away to dick over one pony, is it so hard for them to feature all of the mane 6? Apparently yes, yes it is. Mainly because it looks like they are shoving Cadence into all the marketing now, so that makes it 7 characters that they have to feature on marketing material, and that makes it hard to make it symmetric, so someone is always going to be cut to fit Cadence in. Now as for why they aren't doing the logical thing of putting Twilight in the middle and flank her on both sides with the rest of the Mane 6 and Cadence? Shut up! You are trying to induce logic into marketing!
