I posted a moderately controversial thread a few months ago about how I felt that Ryback was being booked like a "bitch."
In this thread, some of y'all agreed with me, others disagreed (some quite vocally), and others were in the middle.
Two months later, let's take another look at Ryback's shortcomings:
In this thread, some of y'all agreed with me, others disagreed (some quite vocally), and others were in the middle.
Two months later, let's take another look at Ryback's shortcomings:
- Despite being "above the midcard", Ryback's biggest wins are against Kane and D-Bry, Ziggler, and heel ADR. After eight months in the uppercard, he's yet to beat a main-eventer in one-on-one competition.
- Ryback wound up looking like a chump against the Shield, being bitched out to no end. He spent months being their primary adversary only to turn tail when Roman Showers speared him through the fourth dimension.
- Even though all three losses were shady, he never beat CM Punk or get revenge on Punk. Additionally, he failed to get revenge against the Shield-- the reason why he lost two of the three bouts against Punk.
- Despite tough talk and an impressive showing, Ryback failed to win the Royal Rumble.
- After a month of build, Ryback lost in quick, clean fashion to an ailing Mark Henry. The Shellshock post match isn't enough to make up for that loss.
- Despite getting a massive "European" pop for turning on Cena on the post-Mania show, WWE pushed him as a meathead heel instead of as an intense tweener.
- Once Ryback turned, he lost most of what made him... him. Instead of taking the tough guy road and facing Cena as a "formidable foe", he was made out to be a pussy by complaining about no one defending him from the Shield. He did have a valid point, but this was a total 180 from "I lack a frontal lobe! FIGHT! FIGHT! FEED ME" Ryback. To top off the shit sundae, he turned into a chickenshit heel who'd back away from any fight that didn't look like a squash.
- As a heel, he couldn't put away Chris Jericho (an upper mid carder who weighs 60+ pounds less).
- In the same vein, he couldn't put down Daniel Bryan AFTER Bryan had fought in a tag match against the Shield. He had to resort to getting DQ'd.
- His feud with Cena went nowhere. Cena wound up making relatively quick work of Ryback at Payback last night, which leaves Ryback without a reason to demand a rematch.
- After all of this, he hasn't earned a single title in WWE as either Ryback or Skip Sheffield.
- The mean ol' WWE Universe nearly drove him to tears with their "Cryback" taunts.
- HE JUST TAPPED OUT TO MIZ'S THIGH KICKS
- For whatever reason, he resorted to the wimpy heel tactic of faking/exaggerating a knee injury to fool Chris Jericho, who is 60 pounds lighter than him.
- Despite having the physical and psychological edges over Jericho, Ryback couldn't beat him decisively (roll-up). Bear in mind, Chris Jericho got put down for the count by Crispy Hexagons a week after Money in the Bank
- After Vickie Guerrero was fired as RAW GM, Ryback revealed a soft spot of his by hugging it out with her.
- Ryback could not manage to put away Daniel Bryan (who, I admit, should be made to look good going into Summerslam) on RAW yesterday evening after Daniel Bryan had had two grueling matches. Instead, he resorted to getting himself disqualified and then got his metaphorical wigsplit by John Cena
