I just found that out thanks to the YouTube Poop thread and I didn't want to hijack it so I started a new thread.
... so yeah, that happened and somehow I had no idea. Jesse Ventura has a show about conspiracy theories. And I don't mean stuff like Ancient Aliens where they have an out-there and frankly borderline crazy theory but at least they don't claim there's a conspiracy behind it (well maybe they do claim, I don't know, I don't watch it), I mean a full-on, things the government doesn't want you to know, 9/11 was an inside job conspiracy theories.
And from what I could gather from the handful of videos I've seen, it's an investigative show too so The Body & crew, who insist on referring to him as "Governor" (or more likely, Ventura insists that they call him that) because, you know, he was governor of Minnesota ten years ago, go "investigate" these theories, by which I mean talk to attention-seeking pseudo-experts who frequently aren't recognized in any field but bullshit, act offended when government agencies won't give them access to classified information, over-dramatize every single step they take, jump to conclusions and flat-out make shit up. All that of course comes complete with dramatic music and filming techniques as well as blatantly rehearsed "brainstorming sessions".
On top of that, there's a point where they claim the government has actually sent an assassin after Ventura and won't you know it, they even interview the freaking assassin or at least a guy who claims to have been an assassin for the US government at some point. Note that they don't change his name, hide his face or change his voice, because why would someone who knows the US government is willing to kill people who know and say too much want to stay discreet, let alone anonymous?
And of course, like all good conspiracy theorists, they never take a moment to ponder how come the evil government who's ready to kill them because they're giving away all their secrets don't even try to shut down their show that publicly "exposes" those "conspiracies". Murder? Yeah, that's cool but shutting down a TV show? TOO FAR!
It's just... it's fascinating. Insane pro wrestler turned insane politician turned insane host of an insane TV show. Screw re-runs of House that's what I'm watching this summer.
