I was just reading about the Cauliflower Alley Club the other day and was reminded that Murdoch won the Future Legends Award one year. Some winners of that award didn't do much afterward, but it got me thinking about Murdoch. He had a 1980s southern wrestler kind of look to him, which I liked, but in general he never did much for me.

I think he got a pretty fair shot in WWE. Anyone know if he's still active?

He was really entertaining to see wrestle live. I'm sure he could make some money on the indies, which I'd assume he's probably doing, someplace. Haven't heard of him wrestling in my area though, I just saw him once when he was with WWE.

The thing with him is much like Kendrick (and now Swagger to some extent) is that they were too interested in the "whacky tobaccy" and any lack of push can be placed on them

I was always surprised Murdoch made it as far as he did in WWE. He looked like dough, ain't I don't mean money.

I thought he was going to get a good push after he split up with Cade but he just disappeared soon after.

I really liked him and Cade as a team. Too bad Cade is dead

He was midcard at best. I mainly remember him singing to Cade that time, other than that it's a blur.

Everyone said he was really good at old-school wrestling, but the problem with that is, he'd probably have to work stiffer than would be considered safe to make it look good.
The other problem is, he had the misfortune of being in a tag team during one of Degeneration X's reigns of terror where they're burying people but winking about it. I remember him being sacrificed to that altar a few times.

I think he was set to return at one point in the past few years but plans fell apart.

I think he was set to return at one point in the past few years but plans fell apart. He jumped the gun in announcing he was coming back to WWE without actually signing the contract and WWE pull the offer. This was after his short lived jobber run with TNA.

Given that he was a jobber in TNA, didn't set the world on fire in Ring Ka King, and has dropped off the face of the wrestling world since, I'd say WWE made the right call.
Can't say I ever saw anything in him myself. After a while he became a channel-changer for me.

Singing and Mickie James killed his career. He could have done something, but his schtick was mishandled.

Yes.
He was a great tag wrestler, and contrary to some opinions in this thread, I thought his singing cowboy thing was pretty entertaining

He and Made were a good tag team at least.
