I mean, John Cena doesn't suck, it's his character that sucks.
It can't be fun for him either having to recycle the same schtick on an endless cycle for what, 8 years now?
His workethic is impeccable, his actings not too bad, he's shown in the past he can be an entertaining heel. I can only imagine he'd love to branch out a bit rather than being typecast, if I can use that analogy.
I wanna like Cena so much, but it's hard.

He obviously is whenever he tries to do something edgy, but then again I could see him enjoying the repetition knowing that some kids look up to him.

I'm not sure. Because when he's at his worst is when he seems to be enjoying himself the most, such as when talking about Sundays (though I personally loved that segment for how bizarre it was) or the Star Wars promo.

There was something a good while back about a friend of Cena's saying Cena wishes he could turn heel but they won't let him. By now I'm sure Cena is sick of his character (minus the Make-A-Wish stuff and kids). He knows the business and he knows how to work a promo. He has been a face for over 10 years and given all that's happened and all that's built up over the year he's probably ready to unleash it.

I think Cena gets about one interesting angle a year, a lot of filler, and one Big Angle. His on-going feud with CM Punk has given him plenty to sink his teeth into. And I think he has fun on RAW playing up the aspects of himself people are tired of.

You know, the cynic and adult in me would love a Cena heel turn because his "character is stale" etc etc, but when you actually see little kids who flat out adore the guy it's hard to argue with.

No, I think the "lame" character is just an extension of John's real life attitude.
He's a big star, so he is able help write his own promos, and if he was sick of it, he would change shit up.

I'm sure every guy gets sick of their character at some point when it gets stale or your unmotivated because you're not getting pushed. Being booed I'm sure got to him a lot in the early days but I'm sure he's overcome that now and knows how to cope with it.
We're approaching the 10th year anniversary of when he turned face (November 2003 I believe) so I'm sure spending that amount of time as a face has been hard for him and I'm sure he does get sick of it but I think he just has to realise how lucky he is. And I think he does.

I agree with this mostly, and I wouldn't have a problem if they never turned him heel, but the fact that kids adore him is not a reason to keep him face. Growing up, the only men I admired more than Hulk Hogan were in my own family. When they turned him heel, I was absolutely devastated. But I didn't grow up to be a criminal. Im sure there are many more just on this board wirh the same experience. Kids can handle alot. Honestly, It was a good lesson about not idolizing famous people. And when Hogan wrestled the Rock at Wrestlemania X8, the now high school aged crusher started to feel like little Hulkamaniac again. And when I saw him back in the red and yellow, it was like he'd never ripped out my heart in grade school. It was glorious. See a Cena heel turn can teach young Cena fans about the dangers of having famous idols and, when he turns face again in his twilight years, forgiveness.

I think it'd be pretty fun to be John Cena on TV right now.
I mean he can go out there and do just about whatever kind of promo he wants.
