Gabe said on Twitter that instead of working with WrestleCon next year, WWNLive are doing their own shows in New Orleans, titled The WWNLive Experience. They'll be running Dragon Gate USA, EVOLVE, SHIMMER and Kaiju Big Battel on April 4th-6th, the venue still to be announced. Much better setup than WrestleCon, who are doing just one big supershow, and a bunch of stuff with Colt Cabana and Kevin Steen.

Good luck with that. Considering how much trouble they have filling the crowd on their own, they are going to need some major league hooks to bring in the fans. Just because it's Wrestlemania weekend doesn't mean automatic capacity crowd. Plus I hope they make sure the building is capable of broadcasting ippvs.

This is legitimately stupid. In a time where indy wrestling is struggling due to WWE getting the top talent, an economy that is still down and a shift in revenue models, doing different indy events is insane.
So Wrestlecon is now a bunch of vendors, $5 Wrestling, "an independent show" involving ROH/PWG/CZW talent, a live taping of the Art of Wrestling and live tapings of Steen and Corino's shows.
The money all the companies made in NJ won't be the same in New Orleans.

I don't understand doing this, The Wrestlecon draws because you can meet a ton of ex WWE guys and it's convenient for the people already at Mania. Not many people are just going to Wrestlecon for the matches and even if they were they're going to attend ROH/CZW/PWG before they attend DGUSA/EVOLVE/SHIMMER.
I can't see this making much money at all. DGUSA and SHIMMER both use a lot of fly ins so the show is running at a massive loss before it even begins.

Me guesses that Gabe got a bunch of crap for how the EVOLVE show basically threw the whole first night of WrestleCON for a loop (and to be fair, part of that was his fault)... or he doesn't want to be involved with ROH.
I don't think it's a good idea though. Even guys Gabe use that work for PWG and CZW would probably do that show first (EVOLVE Champ AR Fox openly said at WrestleCON last year he's a CZW guy and he's loyal to DJ for giving him his break) if they had to choose.
Still a ways to go, but I don't like the move.

For the record, Dave Prazak has said that his SHIMMER show will largely feature Americans and limited foreign talent for that particular event, and that he'll configure it for a smaller audience than in Jersey.
And there's no beef that led to this - Gabe felt that since this year was a big success, he wanted to run his own events so WWNLive could make 100% of the profits instead of having to share them with Highspots/Quack/DJ Hyde/others. Although Prazak and the Kaiju guys will be getting cuts.

It was successful because the companies were working with each other instead of against each other. Now you got ROH, WrestleCon, WWNLive, and various local indies fighting for a smaller piece of the pie.

This comes off like Gabe not understanding that sometimes, competition ISN'T a good thing.

One thing I've learned from EVOLVE/DUSA is that Gabe doesn't do a great job of promoting the product anymore.

The SHIMMER show at Wrestlecon this year was really flat crowd wise. I think a lot of the passion of the Berwyn crowd was missing and that hurt it overall. Definitely noticed it the next weekend for sure. Either way, I think it's a bit risky for them. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
