LaQuavius Cotton of Delta State won the Slam Dunk Contest This has to be a fake name. It just has to be. It was a Key and Peele skit, wasn't it? Fun fact, had a patient at the hospital admitted, whiter than me (and I'm see through at this point) named Lequita. My team member looked at me (he's black) and said, "I think there needs to be a rule, I'm cool with the whole Elvis stealing music thing but this is gong too far".

You think CBS is schittng bricks over losing a chunk of audience do to casual fans departing the Kentucky history making bandwagon? The BCS once faced this pickle with Boise state nd TCU both grabbing at large spots. The BCS did some quick goat thinking and booked them in a bowl against each other so the monopoly...er universe wouldn't explode.

I think they'll lose a significant chunk of viewers who would've wanted to see history being made. But there's more than enough Duke bandwagoners and Duke haters to have a really nice rating. Man, those Steven Universe fans are acting quick.

They definitely lost a noteworthy chunk of viewership to the loss of Kentucky's streak and the marquee value of Duke/Kentucky. But the Tourney has been very entertaining so far and you've still got Duke in it which does really well ratings-wise. And you've got Wisconsin who slayed the giant, trying to slay one more to win it all. Wisconsin is the perfect underdog, even though they are the betting favorite. They run a really likable basketball and football program. I live in Big Ten country and people hate OSU and Michigan and Michigan St, but they never have anything bad to say about Wisconsin.

Well, he may not be able to kick ass in the election, but Mitt Romney can certainly kick ass in the brackets.

Wisconsin isn't really a giant killer in the opinion of this FAN poster. They were a very very good team regular season and an extremely good team in the tourney. If it were Butler, Wichita or even a Wake Forest than I'd concede that point. But yes You are correct and Duke is a draw. I do think they lost some casual fans and almost definitely a ton of Kentucky fans. Basketball has done a tremendous job the last two season, making up some lost ground to football. The 2011-2012 off season, regular season and then the 2013 off season for football really took a chunk out of basketball for a minute. If chunk is the right word, maybe took a little of the piss out of them is better. As a microcosm I'll use sirius radio channel 91/college sports and ESPN to back my claim. This yr and last yr, both outlets quit football two days after the national title game and didn't pick up until the title game for basketball was over for a few days. Before that football barley stopped. In 2011, they literally never stopped football. In 2012, they paused briefly during the tourney and late season but started courting football again immediately after the national title game was played. If not for Miami's big run the second half of the 2013 season, they had very minimal dynamics to push and didn't push nearly as hard as they did in 14 and this yr. this yr sirius was wall to wall basketball. Hell even Finebaum show on ESPN radio 84 was almost completely centered on Kentucky basketball (that you might be able to attribute to ESPN controlling his calls that got on air I dunno just a theory). Finebaum's sirius 91 shows for two yrs before he went to ESPN, were dominated by football callers off season even while the NCAA tourney was in full swing. I'm glad for them either way. I may be off base but I listened religiously for the last six yrs or so and I've noticed the shift. Conference realignment, the formation of the CFP that drug out 18 months, the "game of the century" Bama v LSU in 11. The "game of the century" Bama v A&M 2013, Johnny Football antics, recruiting, Jaemis Winston antics etc. all took up hours and hours of airtime. I think the outlets (sports giants like ESPN, CBS, bleacherreport and sirius) saw money laying on the table and reached in with both hands over basketball. As a full time football fan, at first I was resentful, but grew to enjoy BB again after a very long dormant period of viewership for me. I don't mind sharing time but I miss football. I always try to keep the CFB thread here on FAN going and I think Andrew (cowboy's logo for an avatar) does too. But I have sen him in here more and more Anyway, good season

Sucks to lose like that. It was a great season, but just didn't get the job done; I never feel like watching the finals after a semifinals loss. I don't know which UK players will stay or leave, and I don't care about speculation. The chips will fall as they may, and then they'll see what to form for next year.

I'm sort of rooting for Wisconsin here. I don't really have a dog in this fiht, but I like the story they've had thus far in the tournament, and they've not won it since 1941.

But I have sen him in here more and more Anyway, good season They aren't an underdog in the sense that they're a lower seeded team that is overachieving. They were ranked #2 in the nation at one point this year, I think. Hell, they're favored this game. They're an underdog in rooting terms. Kentucky was undefeated and hyped to all hell. Duke is a college basketball institution and has more people rooting against them than any team in college sports. And they were both 1 seeds. I'm not trying to belittle Wisconsin's talent level. It's fantastic. But from a TV viewing standpoint, a lot of people are going to rally around Wisconsin against Duke's evil empire. And that's the storyline they try and sell. Because we as sports fans know that the sport itself won't sell itself, so we need storylines!! [/BSPN] And yes, I think college basketball had a great year for itself capped by a very, very good Tourney with even more interest than usual.

All the people who didn't like Frank the Tank getting the AP Player of the Year title over Okafor are getting their answer for why they're wrong. Okafor is getting destroyed.

Okafor is looking terrible. Not at all the #1 overall pick he was thought to be mid-season. He might end up being the top pick, but he has looked very questionable in the 2nd half and the Tourney. He's so tentative on offense. He'll back down into the deep post and then go up SO SOFT. And he's getting eaten alive defensively.

If I can see that from my couch there is no excuse for that. I can't see how they could actually not see that without some shenanigans.
