Don't mess with Ishii in Korakuen.
It's like Punk in Chicago.

That's two loses in a row for Tanahashi. I know its still early in the G1, but I wonder if he's going to lose quite a few matches and take a break afterwards?

Honestly, I think it has more to do with who he faced against. I mean, he may be a tag wrestler right now, but Kojima is the better part of TenKoji. A former champion, and he's beaten Tanahashi before. He also beat Shibata, which shocked the hell out of me. As for Ishii... As I said, Ishii anywhere else is a tough SOB, but beatable. Ishii in Korakuen is a tough SOB who has the entire crowd on his side.

Heard Ishii/Tanahashi was a match of the year contender. Can't wait to watch it.
Boy, do I feel like a dumbass picking Naito at this point; hopefully, he'll come back. That said, I would be TOTALLY fine with a Yujiro win, even though it likely won't happen.

No, this is a pretty common booking tactic of having a guy lose a few of the opener matches and then come back strong near the end in the tournament. Same thing is going on with Okada right now.

Tanahashi/Ishii was simply INCREDIBLE. Korakuen was red hot, and Ishii became a full on superstar. Up there with the best matches of 2013.
The show in itself was really good as well, one of the best early G1 shows ever.

That Steiner Screwdriver was sick, and I expect that with Iishi getting over, we may be seeing it bring more gold to Chaos.

I'm really happy to see Kota Ibushi doing so well, and I hope his roll continues.

Tenzan stop please before you die I'm pretty sure this is Tenzan's swan song as far as big time singles matches or G1s go. Tenzan was great back in the day and I loved his runs as champ, but he's far too broken and out of shape to do what the Tenzan of old could do. Another observation from watching Archer vs Devitt. Lance Archer might as well have been Inoki or Baba, because that's how much love he was getting while beating Devitt's ass. The crowd wanted Prince Devitt's head on a pike.

Watching Day One, was Ibushi's theme always muted in the past?
I guess I should say, do they mute particular themes because of licensing issues?

One thing I don't like about current NJPW Tournament booking is how everyone beats everyone and then on the final day, all the contenders lose except one, usually the last match of each block determines the finalists. I think with all the matches airing to a worldwide audience, it can send a wrong message.
Granted they didn't do it during BOSJ, but that's because Devitt is on fire as a heel, but still I can see it developing here. Ibushi and Takahashi will cool off at the end and the stars will get their wins so on the final show, everyone will have 8/10 points with the first to 12 making the finals.

You MUST WATCH Ishii vs. Shibata. Five star match. Insane right from the opening bell. They did not relent one bit.

This has been a very successful G1 for Tomohiro Iishi so far, and I wonder what he's going to do afterwards.
Also, I'm extremely stoked to watch Nakamura vs Ibushi later today. Go Ibushi!
