Only if they insist that, each and every year, Tommy Dreamer has to come out and cut a tearful promo begging Dixie to bring it back one last time.

Most of the old ecw guys are a couple years away from assisted living, let alone being able to actually compete. Pass.

ECW guys are getting older or more dysfunctional, and the upside of this concept is dwindling. Awesome is dead, Dreamer is semi-retired, Douglas and Justin Credible are home being family men, Balls Mahoney is supposedly a meth addict now, Sandman isn't paying his child support, Stevie Richards is a crazy person, Raven is pretty broken down, health wise, Sabu is busy looking like Ben Kingsley and not making tables break the first time, and Rhino is in Rind of Honor. Who would they even bring in that doesn't work for them already? Honestly they have a lot of options. It's 1 show so it doesn't matter if such and such is a meth addict or whatever. Your card could be the following: Team 3.D Vs Sabu and Tommy Dreamer in a Street Fight Raven Vs Sandman Shane Douglas Vs Justin Credible Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney could team up to take on Doring and Roadkill Stevie Richards could wrestle Too Cold Scorpio Blue Meanie and Nova Vs Guido and Smothers in your token comedy match of the evening Juventud Guerrera Vs Psicosis Little Guido Vs Super Crazy Have the announce team for the evening be Gertner and Taz. Special appearances by 911, Dawn Marie, Sunny, Terry Funk etc I'd pay 20 bucks for that card in 2013-2014 and I'm not even a huge ECW fan. ....you do realise TNA did an ECW reunion show 3 years ago don't you? It was terrible then, why would it be any better now?

Doing an ECW reunion show would be great press for WWE ....and that's about it.
If anything TNA should do something in conjunction with VH1. They're both owned by Viacom and probably hit the same demo.
Maybe a best week ever type show where they have c list celebs comment on Impact.

It's the home of most black reality shows and the occasional music video.

As pointed out, it's 3 years later, everyone's older, more broken down, most are in worse shape, a few have serious substance issues. Then it'll be 4 years older, 5 years older, it's not a long term concept, so doing it yearly isn't a good idea. Plus there's no trademarks which doesn't help. The only way I could see this working is if they made a few of their own hardcore guys, make a division of it, then bring in the old guard, the ones in a state to perform, to put them over as the new generation of extreme or something.

The best way for it to work would be to let ECW stay dead and for wrestling promotions to move on.

As an ECW fan I say no way.
Last time I didn't buy. Next time I won't buy. WWE One Night Stand 1&2 were good enough for me.
ECW officially died at December to Dismember. That is the point, I as a long time ECW fan finally accepted the fact it's over forever.

While we're on the subject of abysmally bad ideas, how bout a WCW reunion show? That way we can get the Band 2.0 AND a bunch of ECW guys at the same time.

Predictable, but pretty accurate.

At this point there are problems with this, primarily time, the fact it has been done, and injury/death.
I understand the desire to use the 'star' power of older wrestlers to give some 'rub' or shine to others. But that only works if you are doing that to your existing talent, or using new talent and having the veterans do something to help 'make' them. Reunion shows can't do that. People will buy it to see their old favs, and if the newer talent goes over those favs then the fans will feel betrayed, or just annoyed. Whichever.
This idea has been mined. A lot. And with great success, enough that there is the high water mark already there, they can see the highest point the idea COULD have achieved and they cannot reach it. Not with what they have available.
Further let me simplify it: THE OLD GUYS HAVE TO PUT OVER THE NEW GUYS. Milking them for every last ounce of nostalgia kick is all well and good, but TNA (or ANY wrestling company) is not there to serve the egos of the aged performers. They could have them sure, but they need to put over TNA's existing talent. TNA MUST BE ABLE TO MAKE THEIR OWN STARS, NOT RELY ON ALREADY MADE STARS. In the baldest of truths, Hogan needs to eat a pin, or pins, to the guys TNA are trying to make. Same for Angle, Sting, and others. With each passing year their name value, and their ability to perform diminishes off peak. So you have to trade off of them as much as possible when the opportunity to bridge into the future.
And reunion shows are... well to put it blunty: they are incestuous at best in what they offer. Propping up only the people with name association to the group in the reunion.
