When he was young and healthy he'd have been tough to take down. If he had any legit fight experience he could basically just wrp up with someone and lean on them till he was on top. Theres a reason they have weight classes and a guy whos a 7 foot 400+ pounder is going to have some advantage going into a fight. post 1981 Andre could have probably been dropped by most guys. His ankles and knees were a wreck and his size and bodily abuse started catching upo with him

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

This post really supports willyjakes' point IMO, because it shows people are thinking of Andre as a "big guy". That doesn't do it justice, he was an actual giant. He was much bigger than Bill Goldberg and I would bet the farm that in his wildest dreams Chris Jericho does not trap Andre the Giant in a front face lock. It's not like Andre was invincible or something just because he was huge, but comparing this question to something like the Goldberg/Jericho fight is apples and oranges. I'm not claiming that Jericho could've taken down Andre. I just used that example because Jericho (who, although trained at the Hart Dungeon, doesn't have any formal amateur wrestling or martial arts training that I'm aware of) was able to take down Goldberg, a much bigger and more powerful guy. Put Andre up against a recognised 'tough guy' or someone with a legitimate fighting background and I'm not sure he'd have fared too well. Also, Andre was never the 7'4" he was billed at and many say that he was never even 7'0. Not that that isn't still incredibly tall! People like Lance Storm, who saw the incident between Goldberg and Jericho, have described it more as Jericho putting on the front face lock and holding on for dear life while Goldberg couldn't get out of it for a minute at best until cooler heads prevailed. It should be noted about the how "kick Andre in the leg" deal that Akira Maeda, who has martial arts training, shot on a drunk Andre in a match by kicking him in the legs. All it did was irritate the guy and Maeda eventually said the hell with it after Andre started to block them. Maeda's hurt people like Chono with his stiffness but he couldn't do much to Andre.

Yeah, you raise a good point, Tyger. Andre, even in his later years, was shot on by Maeda and shrugged it off. A guy who was known and infamous for shooting on and hurting guys, even some of the biggest tough men in wrestling at the times. That does say something about how even Andre post-younger & thinner days could probably handle the majority of the names that have been mentioned in here.

For as big as a bullshitter that he was I'm surprised Mike Graham never calmed he took Andre in a shoot.

Maybe New Jack, because the dude would probably have weapons on him. Never underestimate the power of crazy.
But in a legit fight? Angle and Brock are two guys who have a chance.

Three pages in and no mention of William Regal? Shame on you, FAN. The fact that you think Regal has any chance let alone has gone shamefully unmentioned shows what a great worker Regal is.

If Tracey Smothers can wrestle brown bears, he can beat the Giant.

Absolutely depends on what time period we're talking about. Late 70s? Not many. Even in the early 80s, he still had enough in him that he was near-impossible to get close enough to without him doing likewise and doing some damage. Expansion era through WM3 or so? Quite a few guys. He was getting slower, losing his speed/strength balance and was getting bigger and more fragile. Circa WM6? Pretty much anyone who get in fast enough to take out a knee. By that point, once he was down, he was down.
