Game of Thrones looks like the Hercules TV show and American Gothic's aborted baby. But that's not a bad thing, that's a good thing! - Man of Steel was one of the worst movies I've seen in quite some time. Is it really an unpopular opinion? I've heard mostly negative feedback about it and have yet to see a single person truly praise it. I'd have to say I disagree with most of the opinions in this thread. A lot of them are really absurd. That is all. I love the part where you developed your arguments and debated people instead of throwing a random insult. Here are mine: - The Star Wars prequels really aren't bad. They have stupid stuff in it, sure, and aren't as good as the original trilogy, but they're nowhere near the trainwreck so many people describe them as; - similarly, the Matrix sequels, while completely unnecessary, are still good films in their own right in my opinion. They did not need to be stretched to two movies, though; - people who call the Saw franchise "torture porn" have NO idea how tame it is compared to what could truly be considered torture porn. Also, I am convinced that most people who make that claim haven't actually seen any of the movies and just hope to sound clever. They don't (and make no mistake, I'm not saying that about people who simply dislike the franchise - heck I find most of the films to be weak - but about people who keep throwing the term "torture porn" around without actually explaining what it is they hate so much about these movies); - Scrubs is probably the worst show I've ever seen, and I feel sorry for the legitimately talented cast. I remember someone on these forums once summed it up best by saying "it's like a black hole of comedy: they put talent in, but the jokes never, ever come out funny", it's especially jarring with Cox, whose jokes are funny out of context yet somehow lose their charm in the actual episodes. Add to this that it takes itself disgustingly seriously and you've got one of the most infuriating fiction shows I've seen; - it seems to have become a more popular opinion lately, but Steven Moffat is NOT God's gift to Doctor Who. Yes he can write very good stories, yes I love the more serious and mysterious tone he's given to the new show, but man his obsession with some concepts and his ability to ruin good ideas (Weeping Angels, River Song) frequently get on my nerves. While we're at it, Russel T. Davies gets a lot of undeserved crap. At least when he wrote stinkers like Love & Monsters you can ignore them and move on; Moffat ruins entire characters, story arcs and continuities when he's bad, and it gets bad when he tries to get away with it by saying "a time paradox did it"; - the Paranormal Activity franchise is everything wrong with horror these days: unlikeable protagonists, focus on a gimmick rather than atmosphere and worst of all, stupid, predictable jump scares being passed off as psychological horror. Here's a hint: if you laugh it off and forget it the moment you stop screaming, it's not psychological horror, or even simply horror; - Unbreakable was the most boring film I've seen. By the 50 minutes mark, I swear I thought at least twice that amount of time had passed and that we must've been nearing the end of the film; - I find nothing wrong with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland; - While it is true there are a lot of terrible ones, I still like found footage movies very much (watch V/H/S/2 and the last two segments of its predecessor for examples of found footage films done right); - Halloween is vastly overrated in my book. I think it would actually have worked better as a short as the whole second act feels like filler. It's one thing to try to build tension, it's another to have your killer just stand there while his victims don't even know he exists and are having a happy Halloween; - I'm having a hard times genuinely finding Zardoz bad, even so-bad-it's-good. I mean yeah, it's confusing as all heck and the plot just... kind of happens with no real logical progression, but I feel it has some genuinely interesting themes and I am under the impression that the visuals are intentionally ridiculous to show how much cultural norms have changed and how alien they would seem to us, much like what Kubrick did with A Clockwork Orange (although admittedly more successfully); - I really don't like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. Yeah, it has a cool killer, and the dinner scene is actually pretty creepy, but that's all it has going for it. Most of the film is frankly annoying to me as it is mostly made of a blonde screaming, the oppressing atmosphere is quickly dropped in favour of chase scenes, and I blame this movie for inspiring the countless flicks with incredibly annoying jackasses for main characters, as the very small development our "heroes" get makes them come off as both dumb and annoying. And its title is a f'n lie as only one character gets offed with the chainsaw, its bodycount is hardly high enough to constitute a "massacre" and for that matter, we don't even see much of Texas, but I suppose "The Countryside Meat Tenderizer Homicide" doesn't have the same ring to it. What's the point in debating someone? They're never going to change their mind and it just ends in arguments. Here's one thing I will specifically mention in this thread though. The use of the word 'disgusting' in this thread. You actually feel disgusted that a show takes itself seriously? No? Don't use the word disgusting then, it makes you sound silly.

I dont care what people think.....I like Kristen Stewart. Not only cause I think she is pretty but also cause I think she can act The only Kristen Stewart movie I've seen is the first Twilight, which was drek. But from what I've seen bits and pieces of, she is a pretty good actress. The problem was Bella's character, which is basically a bland dull teenage girl. Same with Robert Pattinson, though he's always made fun of the Twilight series for being horrible.

The quality of movies and TV shows today is far better than in the 80s and 90s. Especially the 80s... TV shows today are definitely better, but movies? Absolutely not. No way.

I will agree that TV is better now than in the 80s and 90s in the sense that there are a lot more good channels and programs, but I will say I miss how old sitcoms seemed to exist in that bizarro sitcom universe. Not that those were great shows, but they have an oddly comforting quality that's great for like if you're trying to take a nap but people are talking in the next room or something and you just need a little bit of background noise. There are a few shows like that still, but it's not the same because there aren't so many that they have to start coming up with weird concepts and stuff.

District 9 sucked. Out and out sucked. Never before have I seen a more unlikeable lead character than the one that is presented in that suck-fest. How that movie became critically acclaimed I'll never understand. He isn't supposed to be likable, he is a man doing his job without thinking for himself. Kind of the point, and they nailed it.

this might not be unpopular but just weird opinion, but I watched "Oblivion" with Tom Cruise over the weekend, and not to get to technical about religion and stuff but I may not be a huge fan of his, even tough I do think he can act, their were certain parts of the movie that for some reason made me think: "You know what, if Tom Cruise is ever cast as Batman, I would not complain."

Christopher Nolan is extremely overrated. The best movie he's made is The Prestige, and he is absolutely incapable of letting something that should be taken with a modicum of levity have that levity, which seriously detracts from the point that all of his movies have ridiculous premises.

Also it works perfectly well when you realize is that Wikus is supposed to be a visual representation of the typical apathetic white South African during Apartheid.

The Dark Knight was a very good crime drama-action movie, but a very bad superhero movie.

Rocky 4 is better than Rocky 3. In fact if I had to list the Rocky movies it will be
1. Rocky 2. Rocky Balboa 3. Rocky 2 4. Rocky 4 5. Rocky 3 6. Rocky 5
Rocky 5 and 3 are the only ones that I did not enjoy. I also think that Back to the Future 3 is better than 2. Everyone Loves Raymond is funny.

LOST series finale was very good and wrapped up almost everything in a very symmetric manner
Dark Knight Rises was very entertaining and should be praised for being a solid ending for that branch of the franchise
The X Men movies are all good. Casting was perfectly fine
I agree about Rocky Balboa. Great film. Great story. It was as close to a wrestling angle as any film I have ever seen. I too hated American Horror Story Assylum. S1 was perfect. S2 jumped the shark about five minutes in and just kept going down hill. Everytime they seemed to get it back on track(the Christmas episode w/Ian McShane) they'd pull a Russo the next week

He is probably too small to be Batman, and now, too old, but there was a point in his career where it could have maybe worked. Interestingly, through a series of circumstances, there was actually a really solid chance he could have been Spider-Man in an 80s film adaptation that fell through for a variety of reasons, though the script or screenplay was mostly finished, I believe. It would have had him facing Dr. Octopus.

The Avengers was not the greatest comic book/superhero movie of all time. It wasn't even the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

Dalton is my favorite Bond but Brosnan was the best, as Bond. His movies for the most part aren't nearly as great as his performance, although Goldeneye is great and I love Tomorrow Never Dies because of Elliot Carver. He was just too cartoonishly evil not to love.
