People who think they're somehow edgy by bashing "political correctness" or "social justice" aren't as interesting as they think they are. Saying that you're happy with the way society operates regardless of systemic inequality is not a rebellious stance. It normally just comes across as "Well, I'M doing fine, why are you complaining?" I feel like I get labelled as this sometimes and I want to share my unpopular stance now. (not that you were singling me out, it just works for my point) I don't try to defends bigots and racists...because I think they're wrong. But I feel like the groups trying to make the world a better place are becoming bullies like the people they are against. "You're not actively supporting gay rights? What are you a monster douchebag? Get out their and help!" That might be a bad example but my point is that even though someone is trying to help a good cause, it shouldn't give them license to be pushy and terrible. Like when Jay Brisco said his stupid thing about gay people...is he wrong? I think so. He doesn't think so. Who are we to decide he should be fired and destroyed because he doesn't like gay people. He's allowed to have his opinion as much as I am. It's a pointless cause, because defending ignorance isn't really fruitful, I'm just saying push for good things in a good way. I don't think I made my point well but it's been an increasing thing that bothers me. I'm not a fan of the whole "If you're not the solution, you're the problem" line of thinking, either. My former roommate's BF used his status as an SJW/Activist as an excuse for treating almost everybody else he came across (including my former roommate's parents) like absolute garbage. And he truly believed that being a SJW cancelled out his treating everybody else like garbage on a personal level.

I don't think I made my point well but it's been an increasing thing that bothers me. Some people can get too aggressive, but I think that a lot of the time, attacks on 'social justice' can be just as patronising, as it lumps everyone working for change in together as this supposedly nasty group. And in all honesty, normally it's only when people are that vocal that people actually pay attention. Recently, for example, a hashtag on Twitter "solidarityisforwhitewomen" pointed out how feminist movements often abandon people of colour, and how the pay gap widens even further for women of colour. And people were outraged that it was so aggressive, and 'infighting'. But it was also covered on the news, possibly the first time I've ever seen concepts like intersectionality even mentioned, so it WORKED. If people stay quiet and polite, it's easier to ignore. There's a reason it was the Stonewall Riots that kickstarted the modern LGBT movement, not the Stonewall Quiet-Murmurs. As far as people like Jay Brisco, he's allowed to have his opinion, but people are equally allowed to challenge and criticise him, en masse. And if your job relies on the fans, maybe he should keep bigoted views to himself? There are plenty of people who are fired purely for their sexual orientation, I'll be worried for them rather than people speaking out against equality.

Right. Defending the people that are actually still being oppressed is more important. I'm with you there. But my feeling would be equal rights are equal. Sure people can fire back at him, it just seems to me that being mean spirited isn't the way to get across your good message.
I get your point just something doesn't sit right with me when it happens.

I think Sonic Boom, and Monster, are better albums than most of Kiss' releases since Love Gun-- and I love everything they've ever done.

Could be because people are way too prone to connect someone being "civil" to someone being logical, therefore they must be right, right? You can tell me the sky is a rich crimson all day in your best Bob-Ross voice, you're still wrong even when I yell at you that you're wrong and I'm tired of hearing you.

This isn't so much against the grain as it is a motherf***in rant, well maybe it is, I don't know.
f*** houses. f*** houses with the rustiest of screwdrivers. Today is my day off. Its raining out, so it was just going to be a day to chill. Instead I've spent the whole f***ing morning working on the downstairs toilet. Its not clogged, but it won't flush. The f***ing thing overflowed, causing a nice little flood. Now, these are 60 year old pipes, & a 60 year old toilet. Spent a couple hours trying to snake it, but nothing. Finally caved & called a plumber, who will be here tonight. Ok, so I go to take a leak in the upstairs toilet, it flushes, but the f***ing tank won't refill. After another hour of messing with the (two year old) guts in the tank, I discover the only way for the tank to refill is to turn the water off, then back on. So, that's another thing for the plumber to fix. F**************************

I really like ESPN most of the time. I used to hate it with a passion until I understood that many of the Skip Bayless/Colin Cowherd-type personalities purposely troll people for entertainment value.

people who say "I'd like the music if not for the vocals" about Death metal are full of shit. the music is intended to be brutal and aggressive and it would sound stupid as hell with someone singing tenor or falsetto over it. the vocals are meant to convey a particular emotion or mood and IMO convey anger or despair a hell of a lot better than crooning would. just another example of trying to look "tolerant" without actually thinking out what you're saying. Kind of a weird one for me. I like a lot of death metal but certain types of vocals can really turn me off the band. I prefer the vocals to sound like a hideous demon signing(like Bloodbath) versus someone that sounds like they're vomiting(Dying Fetus). Of course the same could be said of any genre where somebody f***s up the vocals.

I get that the lower the production values, the truer (is that even a word?) it is to Black Metal. I get that, and I'm not asking for all the bells & whistles, but one or two would have been nice.

No one is denying that there are issues regarding race, sexuality and gender that need to be addressed..... However the so called social justice movement (or whatever else you call it) on tumblr isn't helping things one bit.

At its best, it can raise a lot of awareness and make people better people in general. I don't see the problem.

If it wasn't for the fact he's done work for every single person in my family I'd call someone else. I'll call him tomorrow morning, & go from there. Sigh.....
