Most of mine will be sports themed, since I sometimes think about making an "Unpopular Sports Opinions" thread. Just never got around to it.
I've really grown to dislike baseball over the PED scandals, but I'm waaaaay on the other side of the fence. The only substances MLB should ban are ones that can't be purchased legally. Outside of that, I really don't care what a player uses or doesn't use.
With the anti-bullying awareness having grown as much as it has, why is it still seen as okay to be a complete asshole to people you know nothing about outside of the fact that they're wearing a jersey or a t-shirt or a hat of a team you don't like? Or to in general behave as poorly as you possibly can, as long as you don't get kicked out of the game you're attending? Just because you paid for a ticket, it doesn't give you the right to act as reprehensibly as you can - within the rules. Again, there's a fine line between harmless ribbing between friends and being total jerks.
Because of the above, I don't think alcohol should be served at sporting events.
I strongly, STRONGLY disagree with the mindset that you have to be loyal to the "hometown team" or to one single team in a given sport. That's like saying you can only listen to one band or watch one TV show. If I wear an Anthrax shirt on Monday, then a Motorhead shirt on Tuesday, does that make me a bandwagon fan? Of course not. But if I wear a New Orleans Saints hat on Wednesday, then a Green Bay Packers hat on Thursday? Then I'm a bandwagon jumper. It's like, when it comes to the "die-hard" sports fans, logic just doesn't even exist.
Ultimately my point is this - people should cheer for and support whoever they want for whatever reasons they want because, ultimately, IT'S A GAME. Unless you're participating, IT'S ENTERTAINMENT. And anyone who says "You can't like this team" or "You can't like that player" is a doofus.

I hate complaints about "kids these days" and "the next generation is doomed" because it happens EVERY SINGLE GENERATION. Every generation of adults starting as early as their teens starts bitching about younger people. Every generation of adults thinks theirs was the last to get it right and the kids coming up now and in the future are f***ed. Everybody thinks like this. You'd think by 2013 we'd realize what a pointless belief it is and how life just keeps going on and changing. Don't get me wrong, I HATE children, but I don't think just because I'm an adult now that my generation of kids were little angels and these kids today are reckless hellions who have everything handed to them. I was like that as a kid, kids I knew were like that, kids like my nephews today are like that, kids are bastards. It's not a generational thing. Kids are, will be and always have been assholes. Not every child of course but childhood in general is littered with selfishness and sociopathy. Kids don't know better yet. I was an asshole as a kid, you were an asshole as a kid, kids today are assholes, it's not a generational thing, it's a kid thing. I'm still a childish prick and I'm nearly 30. I'm at least leagues better than I used to be. Mostly. Kind of. The point is kids are assholes and that's it, they always have been and always will be. It has nothing to do with what generation they're brought up in. The assholery will vary depending on the generation but it will still be assholery. I did shit as a kid kids today couldn't do because of Youtube and hidden cameras and everything. Kids will be bastards however their time period allows. When these kids grow up they'll repeat our mistakes and bitch about their kids, who'll complain about their kids, who'll complain about their kids and so on and suchforth until the sun blows up and we're all dead. And this has been going as far as humans have been around. Plato even complained about "kids these days".

I agree. It's not cuz this has been thrown at me by the generation before me, but cuz I see people around my age doing this. I saw someone post something on facebook about that Jackie Robinson statue that was vandalized with racial slurs and they wrote "this generation has no respect blah blah blah" CUZ RACISM DIDN'T EXIST UNTIL THIS GENERATION. I just hate holier than thou attitudes in general.

People who complain about other people's kids and other people's parenting give me the distinct impression that the closest they've been to a kid (since their own childhood) is sitting eight rows away from one on a plane and complaining throughout the flight about the kid, without realizing that the kid stopped talking hours ago. People who publicly complain about kids' behavior are a huge part of the problem, as they often shame parents into giving in to their kids just so they don't have to endure the judgmental yet clueless complainers. It's next to impossible to enforce consistent expectations and consequences when the well-intentioned parent has to listen to "I can't believe he/she lets his/her kid act that way." I should have pointed out when I was trying to argue my case that I have 2 children. So, it this isn't a case of me being a big clueless meanie

I thought of a few things while laying in bed last night, so forgive me if this ends up being a long post:
As a Bulls fan, I don't hate the Knicks. I have no reason to. Sure, they had some dirty players in the 90's, but they never beat us when it mattered. They got lucky as hell, & help from the refs in the 99 ECF, but Michael was "retired" then, & they lost to Houston anyway, so who cares? The Knicks on the other hand have plenty of reasons to hate the Bulls. Jordan made them his collective bitch for a long time. Not to mentioned we fleeced Isaiah on the Eddy Curry trade. Most NYK fans still haven't gotten over our dominance, & likely never will.
---------
As an adult male, I don't hate John Cena. Shocking, right? He's just not my favorite wrestler. For the most part I'd cheer for him. There are however a few guys I'd cheer for if he wrestled instead of him. Obviously Punk is #1, but Bryan, Taker, & a few of the younger "Indy guys" like Cesaro, Ambrose, Rollins, & if he ever gets a chance to work with him, Neville. Pretty much anyone else, & I'm rooting for Cena.
---------
I never got the Zack Ryder love. I respect the work he put in to get over though. I was happy for him when he got his push in '11, because it's far more than I ever accomplished in wrestling. He just doesn't have a character I can either relate to, or a character I find very interesting. If his character was a real person, it's not someone I would be friends with. Plus, I don't find him all that talented.
---------
Kids have cell phones/iPads etc at way too young an age. I didn't have a cell phone till I was 18, & all it did as make phone calls. You only turned it on to make a phone call. I had a pager at 16, which I hid from my parents. I figured they'd think I was a drug dealer (I wasn't) if I told them, so I didn't. It went off in school once, & I was freaking out. We weren't allowed to have them in school. The teacher stopped class to try and figure out who had it, but I kept my mouth shut. She never knew it was me.
Actually they just showed a stat on the News a minute ago: 95% of high school kids have smart phones, & 31% of 8 year olds do too.
I'll fully admit that this is a case of me becoming a curmudgeon at the ripe age of 34. I understand why kids have what they do, but still...
---------
I think Adam Sandler & Kevin James are hilarious. King of Queens is one of my favorite shows since I started watching it in syndication.
I thought Punch Drunk Love & Spanglish were terrible, but the following Sandler movies are funny:
Airheads Billy Madison Happy Gilmore Bulletproof The Wedding Singer The Waterboy Big Daddy Mr Deeds Eight Crazy Nights Anger Management 50 First Dates The Longest Yard Click I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry You Don't Mess With the Zohan Bedtime Stories Grown Ups Just Go With It Jack and Jill That's My Boy
I haven't seen Funny People/FP2, but I'm sure I'll like them.
Now that list means I've liked every one of his movies except the two I mentioned before. If it isn't here I haven't watched it. I know most people hate his last several movies, yet like his first few. I'm not sure where the line is drawn, so I just posted them all.
-----------
Despite being around in the 80's, I generally dislike 95% of the movies & music produced during that time. I've tried to like it, but it's just not my thing.

Jim Ross was overrated as a commentator.
At times, Bischoff was right and Ross WAS too Southern. His obsession with American university sports was also annoying, and at times his screaming just came across as desperate, like his reaction to HHH beating Jericho at Wrestlemania. While the crowd seemed to be either mildly enthusiastic or bored, Ross sold it as though Christ has returned.
He wasn't a bad commentator by any means, and he was certainly superior to those WWE replaced him with, but for the best WWE commentary, you have to go back to the days of Jesse, Heenan and Gorilla.

Well, I swore to stay away from this thread, but I kinda have to say it. The Diva threads in certain sections on FAN can get really, excessively creepy at times. I don't think certain people understand how much objectification goes on in certain threads, particularly the Pics/Gifs section when it veers off and becomes the 'Gifs of AJ's backside' thread.
Plus, just popped up as I was typing: "The Official "Summer Rae is Smokin'" thread." Why?
EDIT: Also from the Diva Pics thread -

On an unrelated note, I'm glad I.started this thread. I'm a very opinionated person, & it feels good to get some of this stuff off my chest. The thread has remained civil, (knock on wood) & it seems like everyone is enjoying themselves here, if you can even say that about a thread like this. There are over 130 posts so far, & I hope to see at least that many more! Bravo FAN for a job well done so far! Pat yourselves on the back, you deserve it! Yeah... about that. I'm locking this thread in a few minutes because I am OFFENDED by the lack of name-calling and rock-throwing in this thread. OFFENDED, I say! Anyway... hm, I'd have to agree that the kids being coddled with the participation thing is a bad idea. I for one hate losing... that's why I try my hardest to win all the time. Like... the participation thing is one hell of an unfair way of attempting fairness. LMAO! Fine. *Throws rocks at Cthulhu* People who complain about other people's kids and other people's parenting give me the distinct impression that the closest they've been to a kid (since their own childhood) is sitting eight rows away from one on a plane and complaining throughout the flight about the kid, without realizing that the kid stopped talking hours ago. It's next to impossible to enforce consistent expectations and consequences when the well-intentioned parent has to listen to "I can't believe he/she lets his/her kid act that way." I'm going to say you're painting with an awfully broad brush here. Is that true in SOME cases? Yes, but the majority of the time that isn't the case. I pretty much presented both sides in my original post on this subject. Even if this isn't a direct response to me, you're still not correct. If I misunderstood what you're saying, feel free to point it out.

Kids under 13 should only have cell phones with just home numbers and emergency numbers in case of trouble. An 8 year old shouldn't be texting. That's absurd. They can just wait to get home to call their friends on the home phone (if people even have those anymore). - Parents shouldn't feel pressured into putting their kids into sports or obscenely expensive after school activities just because everyone else is doing it. It's a huge waste of money. When I was a kid, we just pulled the old ratty goalie's net onto the street if we wanted to play hockey. We didn't get all suited up in thousands of dollars worth of equipment to fumble around and be terrible. - Parents need to stop bringing their kids to parties meant for just adults. You see, they invented this great concept 60 years ago called "the babysitter". Look into it. -I hate when people say "too soon" when you make a tasteless joke about a dead celebrity or something. You only get to decide whether you think it's funny or not. You don't get to decide that for anyone else. It's especially annoying when you make jokes about someone whom the day before was a joke when alive. Like Anna Nicole Smith. Everyone made jokes about her being a drug-addled whore and gold-digger and what not, then she drops dead, and all of a sudden the dead celebrity sig makers come out in full force and she's all of a sudden a candle in the wind and this generation's Marilyn Monroe and shit. Come on. - Age doesn't make you wiser. It makes you more stubborn. So if you were a dumb shit when you're 21, chances are you're an old dumb shit now. - I hate the concept of additional "maintenance" for rich women who have already gotten their deserved half during a divorce. I know a woman whose lawyer cited that she was entitled to the continuation of "the lifestyle she had become accustomed to". What about the dude? Maybe he was accustomed to getting blown once a week or having dinner on Sunday? I think if she gets to go shoe shopping and salon hopping on his half still, she should have to blow him. Call me old fashioned...

You CAN speak ill of the dead.
An example would be Christopher Hitchens who did not hold back when Jerry Falwell died. Hitchen's logic I think was sound. He said he criticised him when he was alive, so there's no reason why being dead would change that.

Call me old fashioned... We used to always get pickup baseball/football/basketball/hockey games going, but you almost never see that anymore. Coincidentally, we actually saw a group of kids playing baseball on their own yesterday. I was stunned because it was the first time I've seen that in a loooong time. We used to get a bunch of kids together to play running bases, 500, HORSE, 21etc. We'd invent games to keep us busy. Another thing that bugs me is a lot (not all) kids spend way too much time playing video games. We use to leave the house at 7-8am, come home for dinner, and head back out till it was time to go inside for the night. No matter the season we were constantly outside playing. Nowadays kids wake up, turn on the Xbox, and sit in front of the TV eating Doritos and playing video games all day. That's fine sometimes but you gotta get out, have some fun and get some exercise. I do know this, the more I post in this thread the more I feel like an old man. I feel like I'm only moments away from yelling at the kids to GET OFF MY LAWN! Sigh, getting old sucks! DON'T GET OLD!!!

TV shows, music, and movies from the 80's and 90's weren't really any better than what we have today. Actually a good deal of it was every bit as lame and stupid. But it seems more awesome because there is nostalgia attached to it.

- I really don't see the appeal of Cracked, aside from the odd Seanbaby article. To me it may as well just be called "snarkylists.com".
- I love all of the nonsense and meme threads we have here way more than our serious discussions, and I say we need way more of them. The stupid stuff is the real draw here for me, and most of the time you see me posting something fairly serious, it's just me adding my thoughts while modding. I prefer being funny than debating stuff most of the time.
- I think it's totally possible for a character to have a few "Mary Sue" elements while still being likeable and/or interesting to follow.
- Daniel Tosh is one of the most annoying people in America today.
- I think Big Bang Theory is kinda funny. It's not brilliant or anything, but it's harmless.
- I'd like to think I have fairly diverse taste in music, and I've come to believe it takes a lot more talent and imagination to make modern Top 40 pop than most people assume.
- Superman's New 52/Man Of Steel look is awesome.

If this was happening in the main ones, there would be a nice amount of people complaining.
