It's Monday night, and that means only one thing... at least until the NFL season starts, anyway. Tonight, RAW comes to you LIVE from Sacramento, and much like the infamous Baltimore staircase, this city is known for its own quirk in recent years... crowds that can get so hot that it shakes the rock solid TV cameras. SummerSlam is only 6 days away, so can the superstars of WWE get the crowd worked up into that famous frenzy?
Three men that can do that are all intertwined with each other at this moment... WWE Champion John Cena, No. 1 Contender Daniel Bryan and Money In The Bank holder Randy Orton. Last week, Bryan was a good sport in allowing Stephanie McMahon to test out a dazzling corporate makeover on him (that went unfinished when he refused to allow his famous beard to be shaved off by Mr. McMahon's orders), but he also had harsh words for his SummerSlam opponent Cena. Cena would counter with words of his own, while Orton seems content to let both know that he's lurking in the wings, ready to strike. Of course, there is still the McMahons and Triple H stirring the pot from the offices, so expect a few curveballs before we arrive in Los Angeles.
Scheduled for tonight, CM Punk will finally get his hands on his former friend Paul Heyman, as the mad scientist last week challenged his ex-client to a fight... or will he? His opponent on Sunday, Brock Lesnar, will almost certainly be there for "moral support", so Punk will need to watch his back big-time (and this time, maybe not backhand a fan in the process).
Kane and Bray Wyatt are scheduled to fight in a burning ring of fire on Sunday in a clash of two of WWE's most mentally twisted combatants. Expect some intriguing words from either of these two, if not both, tonight.
Strangely quiet about their plans for the coming summer spectacular are The Shield, especially since they currently hold both the Tag Team and United States Championships. They've had their issues with Mark Henry and The Usos in recent times, but the hounds of justice have had the upper hand in most of their clashes, so they could be in the rear view mirror now. Who have Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns set their sights on? Or is there someone else out there wanting their own shot at them?
Also, expect final buildup towards other SummerSlam bouts... Could Christian continue his momentum before his World Heavyweight Championship bout against Alberto Del Rio? How will the rivalry between former allies Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow continue to escalate? And what do the mixed tag couples of Dolph Ziggler/Kaitlyn and Big E Langston/AJ Lee have in store for each other?
All that, and the continued renaissance of Rob Van Dam, TONIGHT on RAW!
