I was reading the Torch today and was alerted to this by a question in today's "Ask the Torch." It doesn't look to me like Matt is actively soliciting gifts on his wedding site , but in most cases, registry sites are private and only given out to those attending the wedding. Now, if a fan wanted to donate a gift, he's/she's an adult and what that fan does with his/her money is up to them, but it seems a little gauche to me that Hardy would even have his site open up for this option. What does everybody else think?

It's taking advantage of the fans but a lot of indy women's wrestlers do it these days and get tons of stuff from white knight wrestling fans.

we just went threw this here in Northern Virginia/D.C./Maryland area. Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III's wedding list got out and fans were sending him gifts even though he never asked fans to and some critics complained that he didn't give them back.

I can imagine their vows:
Priest: And do you Matthew, take Rebecca as your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, through sickness and health, until Death do you part, as long as you both shall live?
Matt: MATT HARDY WILL NEVER DIE!!!!

I really hope Kane shows up to this wedding and tombstones a priest - that will be my gift to Matt Hardy. The gift of Kane.

Some critics need actual problems to talk about. I don't see a problem with it. I won't buy them a present, but if someone chooses to do so, it's not really a very big deal.

The Hardys have a strangely dedicated fanbase, they'd get sent stuff by fans whether they asked for it or not so more power to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Hardy loyalists sacrifice themselves as offerings for Matt's wedding.

It's become a catch-all to deride people for choosing to support someone or something that they really like. If they're big fans, so what?

Don't find it unusual. Models do this all the time.

It's become a catch-all to deride people for choosing to support someone or something that they really like. If they're big fans, so what? I personally think it's past being a big fan. Being a big fan is going to the show to see someone, buying some merchandise maybe purchasing a photo and an autograph and following their career. What a lot of fans seem to want to do is know these performers on a personal level and I've never quite understood it. It's also very very suspicious that these "big fans" generally only want personal interaction with hot female wrestling personalities and don't really care very much about the male wrestlers they're big fans of.

Porn stars and Indy wrestling chicks (not a lot of difference sometimes) Tweet their amazon wish lists all the time. These fanboys always get taken for being dumb

It's become a catch-all to deride people for choosing to support someone or something that they really like. If they're big fans, so what? Thank you, I fully agree with that. There are people out there who do something like this for the wrong reasons and I don't like the generalizing that goes along with it. It's funny, Zema Ion had a sad situation no doubt and I can get that point but what about Nigel? He raised enough money to make his documentary through kickstarter, asking for fans funds. If the majority of wrestling fans only wanted to support hot female wrestlers, then his project would have easily failed. People will support who they like for their own reasons. If they want to feel like they know a wrestler, then who cares? Whether they do not is a different story so long as they aren't taking it overboard which admittedly, some fans can do. In my opinion, it's lame to bash anyone who supports any wrestler, male or female. These are wrestlers who are in pain every day for low pay days on the indy level so what's the big deal of buying them something that my brighten their day? I'm sure the fans who do got their own worth out of seeing them perform and want to say thanks. As for Matt and Reby, hey if people want to buy them stuff, that's great for them. Obviously personally people have their opinions about them but is it any different than a fan who takes time to make something for a wrestler and give it to them as a gift? Not really, the same intent is still there. To show appreciation to someone who's impacted your life in some way, no matter how small, if done right.
