Seriously, how much would it suck to see Orton walk out of Summerslam as champ?
I think WWE has done a good job here. Before MITB I remember a lot of people said WWE gave it to Orton because they couldn't decide who to give to among the popular picks, so they gave to orton as a swerve. Maybe they did, or maybe they didn't.
Either way, Orton has really gotten under my skin recently. He had that great mini-feud with Bryan which turned him heel. Don't even try to tell me he's a face because women and some kids cheer him. Heels like him can have fans just like the "cool" heels. Bryan's the hottest face going, and Orton's directly opposed to him.
But anyway, Orton's presence in current affairs presents a What-if? scenario designed to piss me off. One which has a pretty low chance of happening, but damn, well done with an angle I think we were all very tired of.

I'd be fine with Orton walking out as champ.
Cena does nothing for me and Bryan's more of a 'meh' for me. So yeah, Orton's the best pick for me in this situation.

I don't see Orton walking out as champ in any scenario where we see Bryan claim the gold. In my ideal scenario you have Bryan win, Triple H calls it down the middle, Cena respects Daniel Bryan. If Orton does try to cash in I wouldn't put it past Cena to block the cash in as we all know how much he hates MITB and because of the newfound respect for Daniel.
Similar scenario but this time Orton is cashing in under the guidance or backing of Vince, it's blocked by Hunter who has already said he'd do whatever to stop Vince.
Bryan turns heel, aligned with Vince, new corporate champion. Cash in would most likely be blocked or reversed by Vince.
If Cena wins, f*** it, don't care.

Question is, how much would it suck to see Cena walk out of Summerslam as champ? Ooooor we see a re-tread of Punk / Cena and Cena inexplicably gets the title feud while Bryan goes and does something else entirely. And either way, good matches or not, I think giving the title to Orton for any length of time is a terrible idea. |

Bryan wins then Cena acts like he's gonna congratulate him but destroys him instead then he motions to the back for someone. Orton comes out, cashes in the briefcase. Randy RKO's an already beaten Bryan and pins him 1-2-3, Randy Orton is our new champ. Then Vince comes out and cut a promo about how indy guys are taking over the WWE(he never mentions anyone by name) and he doesn't like it one bit and that he wants "our guys" to stay in power. Vince then hands the mic to Cena who says that if he can't be champ he would prefer that his best friend, Randy Orton should be WWE Champion.
Voila, New Corporation/New Two-Man Powertrip

There were rumors that this year WWE management wanted to use the Bryan feud as a way to "solidify" Cena as a legend (probably by proving he is a "real wrestler") so I imagine Cena will win clean and go on to feud with one of the last remaining "big" names in WWE - Orton.
I don't want this to happen because it just sounds stupid and redundant. Cena's already a first-ballot hall of famer and a legend for many reasons. Beating Bryan will only further perpetuate the Cena as a face, but really the company's biggeset heel idea.

Say what you will about Orton, but he genuinely cares about his opponent. I forget what Botchamania it was where he asked Bryan "Are you alright?" and "You okay?" at least 4 or 5 different times. I like to imagine that, once they got backstage, Randy gave Daniel Bryan a big ol' hug then whispered "Great match." in his ear. If Cena wins, f*** it, don't care. This. I want this to be the new "IF CENA WINS WE RIOT!". |
