So technically he can go down in the record books as a former WWE Champion, but with a less than a day run. Arguably the worst reign in history because it involved him beating a non=champion in Miz than losing it to the status quo that is John Cena before CM Punk just came back to beat Cena anyway. I could see him still getting a thank you run sometime during one of WWE's less hot periods of year like the fall (doubtful it would be this fall though) or something.

I don't think so, as he's too injury prone at this point.

No. But he doesn't have to. He's already held the WHC twice back when it meant something.
Imo, people who have already been World Champions don't need to have "thank you" runs.

If he comes back he'll probably beat Alberto for the meaningless title but that's about it.

Rey would just pull a Nash while holding the title; it's too risky. At this point the goal should to be have a kickass match with Sin Cara. I don't care if it's on Main Event, just get it over with.

Mysterio probably won't win another title again, let alone the WWE Championship.
I can even see him retiring shortly after his next return.

As broken down as he is, I certainly hope not.

He might, but it would be a scenario where he wins, someone cashes in MITB on him immediately, and viciously beats him and retires him.

Don't see how you can trust Rey to hold your belt when he's basically held together with scotch tape right now.

If you would have asked me even five years ago, I would have said no. So now I say of course not.

Only if the brand-split becomes a thing again, and the 'E title goes to Smackdown, and it suffers a talent-drought similar that plagued on-and-off since '04, and Rey is literally the only non-NXT guy backstage. Even then, it's 50/50.
Man, Smackdown really sunk after '04. I mean, it had a few upswings later on, but going from the 'A' show in '02 and '03, to the state it was in late '04 is a drop-off more fitting a company that didn't make it.

27 nos in a row?
Not that I disagree and I've never even really been a Rey fan, but this kind of makes me want to see it happen now just for the WTF? factor.

With the exception of Kane To be fair, before Kane got his WHC run, he only held the WWE Title for 1 day. Rey by comparison got two decent length reigns with the WHC.

No. he'll be lucky to wrestle again. Hopefully he comes back teams with Cara a bit, builds Cara up as credible. They have a friendly match at Mania ala Eddie-Rey, they feud or not w/e. Rey retires, Cara gets a rub

Rey retires, Cara gets a rub Imo, Rey is too volatile to keep around for any extended period of time. I think WWE should hust outright release him from his contract, but pay him per appearance if they still want to use him. Let him be the surprise entry for the Royal Rumble, or let him have a glorified squash match against a heel jobber on "milestone" shows like the 1100th episode of RAW or the 15th Anniversary of SmackDown or whatever, but I don't think Rey can be relied upon for anything that involves "build up" or "planning". Sin Cara vs. Rey Mysterio does sound like a good match, but I don't see the big "pass the torch" moment that a lot of others seem to, and I don't think Rey even has a "torch" to pass, unless you consider "Token Mexican Guy" or "Token Masked Guy" as a torch.

Dude had a one hour reign 2 years ago. I think it's silly to say it'll "never" happen again.

Wouldn't he actually have to come back to wrestle first? Not even absolutely sure I see that really happening again, to be honest.

It would be pretty ridiculous to put the most prestigious championship on a guy who could get injured yet again at a moment's notice. That's one of the many reasons why Cena has held the belt so long - the guy rarely gets injured, and when he does he just works through it.
