bit.ly/1490gzTSo the event hasn't ever really been known for it's curiserweight action, but there have been some cruiserweight matches that were few and far between and decent. I just wish TAKA Michinoku had not been wasted one year in a comedy match with the Oddities. His match at WM 14 was off the hook!

That pop Tajiri gets is crazy in the match. I never realized how over he was.

That pop Tajiri gets is crazy in the match. I never realized how over he was. It probably helped that the WWF was still in the Atttitude Era and everyone was getting massive reactions plus he was facing the hated X-Pac. Even without those factors in place though Tajiri was WAY over. It kind of pokes a whole in the theory I've heard that WWE won't push more Asian wrestlers because they are tough to market to an American audience.

I was watching that 1-2-3 Kid vs Hakushi match the other day, it's a great match and a great opener. Hakushi was awesome, just a shame he was more or less reduced to a jobber after it.

His match with Bret Hart (the one that is on Bret's first DVD) is also especially good. I makes me wonder what Hakushi would have been like in the Attitude Era. His look kind of fit in with it. Perhaps he could have teased a feud with Kai En Tai before being reveleaed to be their muscle (since he was at least a bit bigger than them).

I miss the cruiserweight division in both WCW and the WWE.

I miss the cruiserweight division in both WCW and the WWE. I miss the WCW cruiserweight division the most. WWE never really pushed a cruiser division full force despite having all the time in the world to do so. There were a couple of points where it looked like that might change. Like in 1997 with the very early days of the light heavyweight division or in around 2004 when Paul London, Billy Kidman, etc. were getting some screen time. However, each point ultimately led to very little.

Just something I thought of, but didn't want to make a whole new thread about. 1995 and 1998 had two great ladder matches. Just imagine if they had at least one ladder match using cruiserweights in the interim either at 1996 or 1997. 1997 would have been particularly awesome I think as it was during the WWF's attempt at a Light Heavyweight Division (well, a little before it, but still). Just imagine TAKA Michinoku in a ladder match against...The Great Sasuke! I mean they did bring Sasuke in for two matches anyway. I know it never would have happened, but a smark can dream
