In 1999 and 2001, respectively, the WWF's biggest female stars at the time posed in issues of Playboy that sold well- but each of these ladies, in the minds of many, would eventually develop some inflated egos that ultimately drove them out of the Federation.
But which was the bigger instance of what seemed like a windfall becoming a downfall?
Chyna lasted longer post-Playboy (roughly 7 more months to Sable's 2) and didn't leave in as bitter a way, but Sable would make amends with the WWF a few years later while Chyna may be on the top 5 of bridges that were burned beyond recognition with the company.
From an on-screen perspective, Chyna actually lost her next 4 PPV matches after her issue came out while Sable was pretty much seen as invincible once she became women's champ (Chyna had already won IC title and qualified for Royal Rumble/KOTR long before this popped up for her).
When Sable left, the WWF still had Chyna/Debra/Ivory to lean on for female presence- but when Chyna left, it left a big hole for the female side save for Lita (Trish and Molly Holly were still green from an in-ring perspective, the incoming WCW women, etc.)

Molly was not green, in-ring, but otherwise, I do agree on the power gap left behind by Chyna leaving.

Chyna. Sable wasn't bad looking so there was some basis for her ego. Can't say the same about Chyna.

Chyna. Sable made some silly demands, yeah, but Chyna believed she should be world champion.

Didn't Chyna demand something like main event level pay? Yeah, the far bigger ego.

Sable. Chyna at least brought something unique to the table despite her unreasonable demands.
Both were replaceable, but Sable far more so.

Sable was worse. At least Chyna wasn't too high and mighty to take the next logical step into porn.

Sable wasn't anything special talent-wise, Chyna actually was. Chyna at least had some justification for her level of ego. Sable was over like rover, don't get me wrong, but anybody could have been the big-titted blonde who powerbombed Marc Mero. Chyna did stuff that no woman did before and some of which no woman has done since.

Chyna thought having a bit part on Third Rock from the Sun, meant she was a huge star.
Problem was that Third Rock was an average show and she was horrible on it.

Chyna was used a lot more for publicity with the WWF than Sable.
Both did the usual talk shows, both made guest appearances on Pacific Blue, both made a cover of TV Guide- but when the SmackDown Your Vote thing started up in 2000, they chose her to rep with the Rock at one of the national conventions. Think about that for a minute.

I say Chyna because it seems like she hasn't felt humbled by having been forced out.

Didn't Chyna's WWE departure have more to do with Triple H dumping her for Steph, than her bad attitude post-Playboy?

Didn't Chyna's WWE departure have more to do with Triple H dumping her for Steph, than her bad attitude post-Playboy? Little from column a little from column b. By all accounts Chyna went from being well liked to fairly hated around this time by a lot of the wrestlers. Just once Triple H hooked up with Steph the office was far less tolerant with her.
