I'm going back through Summerslams in build up to the show tonight and I can't see anything topping HBK's return in a street fight with HHH. Everything about it is pretty perfect. Good psychology and both guys are on top of their game, no pun intended. What is your favorite Summerslam match?

Nothing has topped Bret/Undertaker for me yet.

I've always been pretty keen on Bret vs. Mr. Perfect at 1991, Bret vs. Owen at 1994 and Bret vs. Undertaker at 1997.
If Shawn Michaels is Mr. WrestleMania, Bret Hart is unquestionably Mr. SummerSlam.

Bret vs Bulldog 1992. One of the greatest matches ever.

It's so tough to say. I used to really like Bret/Owen in the cage, but the last time I watched it I just wasn't feeling it. It kind of goes on too long and given what we've seen since looks too santized to be brutal. There pure wrestling match from WM X is a much better. Bret/Taker was a great match. I might go with that. Also, HBK/Vader was a really good match IMHO. A lot of people complain about it saying it made Vader look weak, but I dug it.

Bret vs Bulldog 1992. One of the greatest matches ever. Yeah I watched this again and I think Bret's book made me notice that Bulldog is gassed from the first few minutes and I guess it takes a little away from it after that.

Nothing has topped Bret/Undertaker for me yet. I thought Taker/Austin from 98 was a damn good match.

Demolition vs Hart Foundation in 1990, that was the match that got me hooked in the first place.

I feel that Austin vs. Undertaker at least deserves a mention.

For pure entertainment purposes I would say I've seen Hulk Hogan/HBK more than any other Summerslam match. So fun.

I came in here to say Bret v Perfect in 1991. A great match from start to finish by two great wrestlers, especially when you consider Perfect was carrying a heavy back injury. Also, Summerslam 89, Rude v Warrior was a match I enjoyed, had a great build up to it and Rude pulled a performance out of Warrior, An underappreciated gem that is never mentioned (and might be just me who enjoys it) Power and Glory v The Rockers at Summerslam 90. Just a good opener with a good story.

For sheer intensity, I'd say Austin-Angle from SummerSlam 2001. But my vote for best SummerSlam match is Shawn-Razor II from 1995

The only SummerSlams I've seen all the way through are 1994, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, so I don't know how much I should weigh in on this... but immediate instinct is probably either Bret / Owen or TLC 1, and I'm hesitant to say either because the former I haven't seen in awhile and I've heard doesn't really hold up from a lot of people while the latter pales in comparison to TLC 2. Been ages since I've seen Triple H / Michaels so I might need to look it up again, but because I more clearly remember their other matches I expect in doing so for it to be about fifteen minutes longer than it should be.

I'm not sure I would say best ever but it's up there. One of the great matches that truly lived up to the hype.

It's near the top, but my personal favorite is still Bret/Owen from '94. Then again, I've always been a bit of an Owen mark.

It pains me to say it, but the Bret/Owen Cage Match is terribly overrated. Meltzer was out of his mind giving that 5 stars and not their WMX match.
As far as my personal favorite SummerSlam matches go:
1988: The Mega Powers vs. The Mega Bucks (as a young little pervert I couldn't help but watch the finish of this match over and over and over again) 1995: The "1-2-3" Kid vs. Hakushi 1995: Ladder Match: Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels 1996: Shawn Michaels vs. Vader 2000: Steve Blackman vs. Shane McMahon 2000: TLC Match: The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian 2002: Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle 2002: Street Fight: Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H 2005: Hulk Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels
I think I'd give the first place nod to Hogan/Shawn, but it's definitely not an easy choice.

Just watched Mountie/Big Bossman and that one has to change my answer! That is a hilarious match. Heels lost all across 91, but it was a great card.
