I don't even know if that's a word. But in 2009, Randy Orton beat up Vince and the McMahon's, which made Triple H mad because they finally admitted that they're his family. Which kind of made the entire 2006 DX vs. McMahon's story kind of...not make sense. Why would Triple H care about Vince getting beat up one time when he spent the majority of 2006 doing much worse to Vince?
Now with Orton owing "everything" to Triple H...does the entire 2009 feud not count?
I know I know it's just wrestling, the past barely matters to WWE...but is Triple H headed towards a Kane level of continuity?

Yeah but it's like when you rag on your family and made jokes at their expense. You don't like other people doing it. Same with HHH and the McMahons.
And I'd say they explained the HHH/Orton thing on Raw.

Well, they did pretty much acknowledge that at the start of the promo, though seeing how things escalated, who the hell knows?

Didn't they explain it? HHH might hate/had hated Orton, but sees that for his children to be running the WWE fifty years from now, they need a face to make money and grow the franchise that Vince and his father and his father built from the ground up.

Some fans will not remeber those storylines and others like me prefer to think that the mcmahons are such scumbags that they are capable of using the devil as a champion if they think that it will be worthy

They acknowledged past continuity and played up them ignoring the horrible things they did to each other as being cowardly opportunistic pricks who put the opportunity above personal pride. Which just makes them sound like despicable, uncaring sociopaths...which really, really fits their characters. Especially Hunter's.

Triple H tried to murder Shawn Michaels, and a couple years later they were best friends again.
I blame all the chairshots to the head.

Remember the cardinal rule of heel/face turns in wrestling.
IF a wrestler turns Heel. The past is forgiven because they realize they had made a mistake listening to the fans, and now that they are in it for themselves, they can be more focused. Therefore, they can respect each other at least.
If a wrestler turns face, he has "Seen the light" and has realize the error of his ways and faces he has wronged in the past realize that was the "old" version of this guy.
In this sense.... all the stuff Orton did to the McMahons is water under the bridge because Cena's too white-meat a babyface for them, Bryan isn't good enough yet, but Orton has terrorized their family as much as they have terrorized other wrestlers. So, in many respects, they understand each other.

Vince Sr. had Bruno Sammartino. Vince Jr. had Hulk Hogan. Triple H has Randy Orton... Meh, works for me.

I said it earlier in the day, but I love it. I love it that Triple H logically HATES Orton but still thinks he's better for the WWE than Daniel Bryan.

I'm trying to keep the WWE around for years to come!
After Orton slaughters me and my entire immediate family.

The history isn't getting ignored, it's an important part of the angle.
The McMahons and Triple H are apparently big enough asshats that they would rather have the psychopath who terrorized their family for months be champion than Bryan just because he has the right look. Friggin' disgusting.

They actually acknowledged it, which made it so much sweeter, and so much more heelish.

Friggin' disgusting. Yeah, it's like an extreme version of "I'd RKO my grandmother to keep the title." It's "I'd kiss Triple H's ass to keep the title."

There's this saying: "Real recognize real."
Here it's: "Heel recognize heel"
That's enough for me.

I read Stpehanie even hugged Orton. She's pretty forgiving of a guy who basically mouth raped her after rendering her unconscious only a few years back.
