Oh BTW we almost had a perfect game Yusmeiro Petit finally does something good in the majors. Also, that was his first career complete game, also his first career shutout. I remember when he was a big pitching prospect.

Yankees pay for that joke of a short porch as Mike Napoli hits a grand slam as short as you can possibly hit one I found it funny that as soon as the ball left Napoli's bat, NESN's Don Orsillo said something along the lines of, "Fly ball to right...this will stay in the yard," as though he forgot the Yankees play in a hilarious joke of a little league ballpark.

Odd occurrence in last night's White Sox-Orioles game. The O's had a streak of 15 consecutive runs scored via the home run, when the final one was driven in by a single. Baltimore wins 4-0. Second straight night of 3 solo shots by the Birds. White Sox see their losing streak hit 8. I guess the 10-game losing streak earlier this year wasn't good enough.
On the North Side, Scott (Stevie) Eyre is officially one of the all-time worst singers of the Seventh Inning Stretch. Somewhere, Bill Veeck has a big ol' smile on his face.

Apparently the Tigers wanted to see what it was like to beat down an opponent after Boston did it to them, so they crushed Kansas City 16-2, on 5 hit nights from Omar Infante and Andy Dirks (somehow).
Also, great performance by Petit last night. I missed it because I went to sleep early, but anytime you get that close and don't get it, it sucks. But you can always take away that it was a clean base hit, and Pence made an effort to dive and try and stop it.

The middle relief, or lack thereof, is going to be the Red Sox undoing. They have nobody to bridge the gap from the starter to the back end of the bullpen.

Billy Hamilton is pinch running in the 10th, and is now 4 for 4 on steals.

Tazawa is fine if you start an inning with him and try not to put him in with runners on. I know Dempster has been but I think you have to risk putting Dubront in the bullpen because I trust none of the left handers they have in there.

The only lefty out of the bullpen that I'd put any faith in is Drake Britton, and even then, I don't have tremendous confidence in him. But Britton has quietly put together a pretty good season, but he's still relatively untested.
