I've never taken a full break from wrestling since '98, but every so often our cable would go out, so I wouldn't get Raw. Good thing there was SmackDown/Bottom Line to keep me in the know.

I started watching in 1986 (WWF only) and lost interest around 1992. Still watched until about 96 when I couldn't take anymore WWF. I finally started getting TBS/TNT in 1996, which was right in time for the nWo angle, which made me a WCW fan for a year or two. But WCW around 1999-2000 did not do anything for me, so I went back to the WWF (2000 was a fantastic year for them). I lost interest again around the end of 2002 (the brand split, HHH's reign, etc). Never really started watching the WWE regularly since then, only clips on YouTube when something big happens or if guys I enjoy watching (Hogan, Rock, Brock, etc) come back.
I will say this, taking a break is necessary some times. Wrestling is a very repetitive form of entertainment. Everything becomes old hat pretty quickly, especially nowadays when things are sped up at a rapid fire pace. I could not imagine being a fan of the WWE nowadays without going on hiatus every now and then. It will recharge your batteries and probably make you more interested when you start up again.

I stopped watching in late 1989 or so. Oddly I don't really know why and can't remember why. It just seemed like there wasn't anything holding my interest. Ironically if I had just stayed with it I probably would have been interested in stuff like Hogan/Warrior and Sting finally beating Flair, but overall 1990 was a pretty dire year for wrestling.
I started watching again in early 1992, the SNME that built to WM 8.

There wasn't an exact moment when I stopped watching, but my interest waned during/after the Invasion. 2002 had awesome matches which kept me around a bit, but by 2003 I was done. I did watch WrestleManias 20 thru 22 because they showed it on my college campus for free, so I saw Benoit win the World title which got me thinking about watching again, but I had moved on.
In mid 2007 I had a lot of time on my hands, and was watching a lot of TV, so of course I heard all about the Benoit thing and watched a lot of the news coverage. And it's weird, but it put wrestling back in my concscious. I started going online and looking at the news and message boards a little bit. I vaguely remember catching Mr. Kennedy vs. Shawn Michaels in the first match broadcast in HD, and Lashley diving through the cage during his cage match with Umaga. But the moment I remember thinking "I'm back" is when I watched CM Punk beat John Morrison for the ECW title. It was a great match and I was intrigued by Punk because I read about him in wrestlng magazines dating back to early in the decade, and eventually I became an avid viewer again. I'm actually more of a fan now than I was as a kid, I changed a lot in those years I didn't watch and it gave me a new perspective on it coming back.

First time i stopped watching was in 2003 for a few months (only Raw though) Second time in 2006 all the way till Jericho's return in 2007. 3rd time when HBK retired, Jericho left and Miz won the title in '10 till a month or 2 before Punk's promo.

I was a huge wrestling fan ever since I was a little kid, literally watched WWF/E for as long as I can remember. I stopped watching in around 2005 because I got bored of the product, the deaths of Eddie and Benoit really soured me on the industry for a while and losing WCW and ECW all kind of did me in. I still kept track of what was happening through message boards though but almost never watched the show for more than a couple minutes every few months. I slowly started watching when The Rock came back and started having his feuding promos with Cena. I read how good they were so I watched a few of them on youtube and loved what the two of them were doing. Then CM Punk did his pipebomb promo and they pretty much sold me on watching again.
I don't watch the show too much but I follow a lot more on this board and on twitter and I PVR the show if I think it's going to be good or have an interesting segment.

Seriously? Daniel Bryan is the TOP FACE going against Triple H who has turned into the CORPORATE SELLOUT. Unless they totally bury Bryan, which is not likely since he already pinned CENA CLEAN, this is the most exciting thing to happen since Punk's shoot in Vegas. I don't care if Triple Zs turns into a griffin he bores me to death. Add in Blandy Boreton and I ain't got time for that shit.

I stopped watching during the "Reign of Terror" from about the time Goldberg came in until believe it or not....Snitsky's debut in late 2004.
I stopped again months after the Benoit deal and resumed again at the 2009 Royal Rumble.
Stopped for the 3rd time after Wrestlemania and resumed just last week.

Shortly after wcw was bought. I felt that they must have brought over some of the WCW writers because the show quality really fell. I started again around 2010 in the episode where Bret reveled that he was faking his leg injury and became hooked again.

Definitely. I don't even keep up with it now. Anyway, I have gone through my breaks in the past in which the product just doesn't interest me. However, I still remained a fan deep down. It's one of those things where you could take it or leave something but something just stays with you.

The guest host period was the first time I'd miss weeks at a time. That escalated during the point last year when AJ was pushed as the most important thing ever. Since they went to three hours permanently, I watch the opening and closing segments, if that.

I was a hardcore fan from 2000 (when I started watching the WWF) up into 2006. I probably watched about 98% of all Raw and SmackDown programming during that time period, in addition to TNA, which became my favorite promotion in 2004. Then, after I started college, I slowly started drifting away. I had stopped going to local shows in the Summer of 2006, and by mid-2007, I watched little more than the occasional Impact or a Saturday afternoon AAA TV show.
I loosely followed wrestling until 2009, when I started watching Raw on a fairly regular basis. I tuned in at least occasionally until I got rid of cable TV in September 2011. The last time I saw a full show was Raw 1,000 last year. I still follow the product thanks to some good online resources.
So I've never given up on wrestling as a whole, but I've drifted in and out of regular viewership.

I think it's healthy for everybody to take a break at somepoint. It's the "Fans" who force themselves to watch week-in and week-out and can't figure out why they've become curmudgeons about wrestling that are the absolute worst to deal with. Breaks are healthy, and now that we're in the post-Youtube era, you don't really need to worry about missing anything.
I took a break in Spring/Summer 2000 when they kept hot potatoing the titles (I guess at age 13 I really liked belts) and the shows became really hard to keep up with. This was also the time I started really getting into music and girls, so that can really distract a young man.
From Summer 2000-Summer 2002 I watched no wrestling except for Wrestlemania 18 because the Rock-Hogan press hit my nostalgia button. After that I casually channel surfed until Taker-Hardy's ladder match and then the built to Summerslam 2002 brought me back until August 2005 when Jericho's departure and the sheer frustratingly weird storylines at that time made me ask "What the H am I watching?"
I took a break until December 2007 when Jericho returned and I IRL began dating a female indie wrestler, who will remain nameless. I watched until we broke up in October 2008. From there I still had the Classics on Demand service but watched pretty much nothing of the product save for the PPVs that aired that I would see months later, until finally canceling that in April 2010.
And then R-Truth's heel turn one year later brought me back and here we are today.

I quit watching in 2005. I remember the Hogan/HBK feud and the Rey/Eddie feuds but not much else from this time. I hated Cena or Batista and didn't want to see them in the main event then Eddie dying completely killed my interest.
I started watching a bit again in 2008-2009 when I was working as a projectionist at a movie theater so I would catch matches that interested me if I was working and I'd see the odd Raw here and there but I wasn't really following. I quit that job and stopped paying attention to wrestling until Wrestlemania 27 which I watched with some friends and, despite being a horrible show, I've been hooked on wrestling again ever since.

I stopped watching after the InVasion. Watched a little bit again when One Night Stand 2 came about and ECW started, but quickly stopped watching again. Then I started watching AGAIN when I found TNA in 2009. Knockouts division, X division and tag division were INSANE. Started watching WWE again the next year as Hogan started murdering TNA for me. My first episode back was when Nexus formed. Terrible episode, but the ending kept me coming back and I've stuck around ever since.

I stopped watching regularly between mid 2006-mid 2010. I would watch occasionally between this time. When the Nexus storyline started I began to watch it weekly again.
