Arguably the two most significant durations of time in recent WWE history are "18 seconds" and "434" days. The former is the length of the match that Sheamus won the world title from Daniel Bryan. The latter is the amount of time that CM Punk's second WWE championship reign lasted. Which do you think has become more memorable in WWE history?

No other - 3 minutes? We're just comparing these two.

Punk's reign would have mattered a lot more if they'd treated the first half like it was worth a damn. It honestly feels like his real reign as Champion started in July of 2012 as opposed to November of 2011.

On top of that, it became clear soon afterwards that he was just sort of holding the title for the Rock so it'll be on the line for Twice in a Lifetime; in other words, he spent the majority of that 434 day reign as some sort of bit player, either to Rock/Cena, to AJ, to Lesnar or to Triple H. Compare Bryan's loss in eighteen seconds that took a life of it's own and amazingly got him more over.

No other - 3 minutes? I guess not, which only proves to us that this thread has gone on a little too long.

CM Punk's championship reign was hardly THE main event over anything Cena did. I would say say that it wasn't until Fall 2012 before he became main event because Raw 1000 told us it would be Rock vs Cena for the title and Cena got injured and played a small part in Ryback/ Punk.

18 seconds gave us today's most over wrestler. So - that.

The backlash to "18 seconds" made Daniel Bryan's career and turned him into a major player.
If not for that, it's quite probable DB would've been a mid-carder or even a permanent Superstars fixture with scrubs like Zack Ryder and JTG for the rest of his WWE career.
Punk's lengthy title reign was great, but it was his Pipebomb promo and the aftermath of it that really turned him into a permanent main eventer.
