That really wasn't anybody's fault but Harris' again, he didn't leave on the best of terms. Then when WWE did release him he did the Davey Richards I'm retiring, changed my mind bit and did a few small indies in his area and was brought back to TNA less than two years after WWE released him to play a fake Sting and they probably got a good luck at the shape he was in. Yes it was almost three years later before they brought him back full time from when WWE released him but in that time he made 0 effort to improve himself. He did indies riding off the reputation he built up in TNA not to hone his craft. Which is fine for a short term payday but it didn't help his future. Bryan Danielson was released temporarily from WWE with promises to be brought back and still went out and tried his damnedest on the indies while he was a free agent even though he could have sat at home and waited for that call. Harris coasted just waiting for TNA to call and them not doing so is one of the better moves they made. probably didn't help that when he did go back to TNA the crowd kept chanting "Braden Walker" at him and even Bobby Roode acknowledged it.

For those saying WWE were justified because Chris Harris showed up in such bad shape, I just wanted to point out that Adrian Adonis let himself get into WAY worse shape and he the WWF pushed him to feud with Roddy Piper at arguably the biggest event the company will ever have.

Adrian Adonis' gimmick change was punishment for his weight change. While wrestling fans loved it, Adrian didn't because he wasn't happy about playing an effeminate dude. But he did it anyways because he need the money. And after his feud with Piper was over with, he was gone from WWF. You can't place the blame on WWE for not wanting to push someone who showed up out of shape and lethargic. That's the reason why TNA didn't push him the last few months of his first tenure there.

Oh yeah, I knew it was "punishment," but all I'm saying is a push is a push. I wouldn't be surprised if Brodus Clay's current gimmick was supposed to be punishment since I remember he leaked he was getting a major push when he was still a monster heel with no dancing gimmick. no idea if it's true or not, but just a theory. however, Brodus made it work and I'm sure he doesn't mind collecting those fat WWE checks. Adonis probably could have done the same. Harris on the other hand wasn't even giving the chance. WWE pushed him as a white meat strongman babyface when he clearly didn't have a look that played to that anymore.

WWE hyped him up as a monster in vignettes to fool folks so when he came out as a dancing monster babyface, people were rightfully shocked. Him returning back to the main roster was a reward for losing weight not a punishment. Harris was plain and regular vanilla. In AMW, Storm was the one who stood out. Without his chiseled looks, he was a run of the mill babyface you see on an indie show throughout the South. WWE didn't know what to do with him because he wanted to wrestle on the main shows instead of a stint in FCW. Keeping him around for a couple of months would still lead to the same result. A couple of former TNA wrestlers (Chase Stevens, Cassidy O'reilly, KC James) suffered similar fates. Only difference is that Braden Walker became a meme instead of fading away.

WWE has enough generic big monster heels as is.
