...that when you see them now, look don't look as good.
First, here's how this topic came to mind...
I was reading the Mike Elgin thread on here, and someone said he should do a Norton style shoulder breaker. That made me remember Papa Shango's shoulder breaker, which as I kid, I remembered it executed as a straight up powerbomb onto the knee. So, I went back to look, and it is anything but that. He just kinda set the dude's shoulder on his knee.
I'm sure there are many other things I could come up with if I put my mind to it, but right now, that's the only one I have. I'll add more if I remember them.
So, what do you got for this, FAN?

I remember being legitimately concerned for kevin Sullivan, jackie and benoit at uperbrawl 97 when they did that bump with a table that did not break.

I remember Boss Man when he would lay a guy across the ropes, then hit the ropes and bash his pelvis into them.....terrified me as a kid. No idea why.

Yokozunas Banzai Drop - that looked absolutely killer, especially when you're a kid. Holy Hell though, the ones where he let go of the ropes & came crashing down full-force still scare me to this day.

Not that it's any less brutal, but the Mankind bump at King of the Ring 1998 amazed me as a kid.

Sid's power bomb looked brutal when I was 10. Looking back now it looks real safe to take, especially compared to Lesnar's, Vader's and Nash's.

I'm guessing alot of it is on the guy taking the move to remember to tense up his abs before taking the move. Also, I am sure Sullivan didn't bring his full weight down. Though it sure did look like it sometimes. |

Wasn't really a kid the first time I saw it and I'm sure I'm not alone in this but the first time I saw the Canadian Destroyer, I thought it was the greatest move in the history of wrestling. Now, I can't stand it.

I was terrified of both the Tongan Death Grip and Mandible Claw as a 10 year old. Now they look pretty tame, although when people sell it right, they look ok.
When I was really little I thought Koko B Ware's Ghostbuster looked devastating. I couldn't believe that someone as nice as Koko would be trying to break people's necks like the Undertaker

Silly as it sounds, planchas and diving over/through the ropes made me wince as a kid (keep in mind, they didn't happen as often then).
