I can just see this having been used in the Dungeon back in the day...
On a side note, I never realized just how big he is. I realize he's not as ripped, but I think he's bigger than his dad.

Catch is really old. A lot of the holds used in the dungeon came from catch

Pretty much, if a wrestler knows catch then they've been trained by an old school hooker. It's a dying breed of wrestler, though. Regal is trained in Lancanshire Catch, I think, and I suppose Brian might be by proxy. Very few legit hookers in the 'E, though. (waiting for divas joke in 5... 4...3...) |

He learned pro-wrestling in the Dungeon, and then catch from Billy Robinson. Billy speaks the world of Harry. He's one of his assistant coaches. The man is legit one of the greatest wrestlers in the world today.

Pretty much, if a wrestler knows catch then they've been trained by an old school hooker. It's a dying breed of wrestler, though. Regal is trained in Lancanshire Catch, I think, and I suppose Brian might be by proxy. Very few legit hookers in the 'E, though. (waiting for divas joke in 5... 4...3...) There aren't any true hookers under the age of 70. People have made the argument for Sakuraba, and I can definitely see that. He is the closest to the definition of "hooker" as there can be in today's world of younger generations. There is definitely no one in WWE that is a hooker. Billy Robinson, Verne Gagne, and Danny Hodge may be the only living hookers today. I can't think of anyone else right now. |

But hey you know Daniel Bryan. Who is trained in grappling more than catch which is al encompassing. As opposed to CM Punk who only trained bjj. Lashley, Barnett, del Rio and Lesnar define a shooter. Seeing as they compete in mma. Del rio is a purple belt and was a great freestyle wrestler. Guy could probably stretch a bunch of people |

Would someone clarify once and for all if CM Punk actually trained bjj? or is that kayfabe? |

Wow, I knew he'd put on some mass from seeing him in NJPW, but I figured that was more of him following a typical puro practical-strength training plan versus a presumably more show muscle-based WWE plan. You can really see it here for sure. I do wonder if he's still got MMA on his mind, because he was definitely convincing there.

I just always thought of him as an MMA guy first, Pro Wrestler second. Either way, I'm just glad that there are people out there keeping it alive. It's like a bit of history |
