So I've had an "ad" that looks like ![this](http://www.majhost.com/gallery/rollinman09/Stuff-12/possiblemalwaread.jpg) that pops up on multiple sites (this one included, in fact, I got this "ad" from this site). Considering I have an ad blocker and the fact this wasn't around yesterday tipped me off something's wrong. Use a full scan of McAfee (terrible choice, but my grandmother doesn't understand not going back to them), nothing. Quick scan of Malwarebytes, and it found a couple things calls Trojan.FakeMS and I got those deleted and restarted, but the ads popped back up about an hour later. Checked Malwarebytes again in a full scan, and it said nothing is infected. Downloaded Microsoft Safety Scanner, and it also found nothing. My Dropbox reads clean as well. My cousin has been using IE lately so outside of banishing IE in my household (again, nothing was out of the ordinary last night as I went to nothing that has a history of viruses or malware that I don't already know about unless the Powerpuff Girls wikia is prone to attack). I use Opera, but looking up ads that suddenly appear in the bottom right of your browser, this isn't an attack on just Opera usage (though Opera sometimes has frozen on start lately and likes to eat my memory). Maybe there are particular computer savvy people here on FAN?

Open regedit and search for FakeMS. These kind of malwares tend to be sneaky and can somehow remain active by burying themselves into hard to find files.
