Is Bully v AJ the Best Possible Title Bout 4 Bound for Glory

If not then what would be your ideal pick?

As there most marketable full-time wrestler Jeff Hardy I think would need to be in the best possible title match in the show from a business standpoint. However, IMHO Jeff and Bully singles matches just aren't that great and I could do with not seeing them paired up again. It almost makes me wish Sabin kept the title so we could have had Hardy/Sabin. Almost. Also, even TNA wasn't silly enough to go into their biggest show of the year with a guy perceived as a fluke champ.

The timing fits since this could signal the end of the Aces and Eights and shift the heel focus to EGO instead. And as we know, the world needs more Daniels. He says "your welcome" in advance.

I'd prefer Lone Wolf Aries going against Bully and the Leftovers, then it could move into Aries v. EGO. The stuff with Styles just isn't clicking with me and him targeting Dixie makes it worse.

AJ defeats Bully for the belt
Daniels defeats AJ for his first title win
Aries is on the hunt through EGO
Aries wins the belt from Daniels

It seems like every bfg main event with aj. Here is aj the future of the business to save tna.

With Magnus it would have at least been a new guy in the main event. Who could be a future star in wrestling.

AJ is a guy who DESERVES a title run again after the absolute garbage that TNA has put him through since Hogan arrived.

Much like Darren Young's push, I feel the reasons are fabricated. It seems he only won to appease him enough to get him to sign another contract with them -- just like they did with Hardy last year.

BFG 2013 should have been simple to book. It should have been about AJ Styles' rebirth. Usually we'd expect BFG (or any ppv) to end with a payoff match - a feud ending. This year was never about a feud, it was about AJ returning to the top of the hill.

So in fact it really doesn't matter WHO the world champ is going into BFG, what matters is that he puts on a good show against AJ, with Styles ultimately regaining the title.

So this year, they could have had the belt on anyone. It's a booker's dream scenario - you're not tied by the need to finish a feud, so you can put your big title around the waist of whoever will bring out the best from the challenger on the night.

Instead, TNA had to make it all about Bully/Aces. A fantastic opportunity wasted imho.

This is the match that most people on this forum have been saying should headline BFG since like last year, now minds have changed?

Bully Ray is probably the best heel in wrestling today, I could do without all the A&8's shit but he rises above that. Then you have recently turned AJ's year long journey to redemption. He's like the story they tried to tell with Jeff Hardy except his actually makes more sense and for better TV.

Also, I'd be really down with whoever said AJ wins at BFG, loses it to Daniels who in turn loses it to Aries who has been chasing EGO and Daniels this whole time. Sounds like some golden television to me.

People changed their minds on this match up for a number of factors. The Aces and Eight saga has successfully dragged down Bully Ray. AJ's emo gimmick didn't take off as much as TNA thought it would had. Disappointing BFG series this year. Style's sudden gimmick change instead of gradual redemption is another. And that "shoot" promo he did a few weeks ago is the nail in the coffin.

If anything, they should had went with Magnus instead. Bound For Glory would had been the perfect time to elevate Magnus as a main eventer for TNA.

Maybe they did, but a lot of times with wrestling fans it seems like they get what they want and they still aren't happy. AJ's emo gimmmick worked fine, they brought him back too early so it dragged on for longer than neccesary but it worked out fine. The shoot promo sucked mainly because 3/4's of it should have been said when he first returned to explain why he was looking out for #1. The idea was solid but the execution was sloppy. Also, the Ace's and Eight's saga has been very poorly done pretty much since Lockdown but I wouldn't say it's dragged Bully down. I still look forward to seeing him, I just can't wait until he's on his own again after BFG (at least I hope that'll be finished with at BFG). They had to the Styles gimmick change suddenly in my opinion. A gradual turn would have confused the casual fans too much. They should've had him say he was sick of being the go to guy and from now on he only cared about himself at the start. Then, when he manned up and helped the Main Event Mafia say he realised why he loved being the go to guy. It wasn't executed perfectly but it worked out okay (instead of amazingly) the way it did. Either way I look forward to AJ/Bully at BFG where (hopefully) AJ's redemption comes full circle.

Magnus just isn't over enough to headline TNA's biggest event of the year. I'm not the biggest fan of his but a lot of people like him and he's been getting some great reactions lately so he's obviously someone TNA should keep pushing. I just don't think he's ready to be THE guy yet.

The worst thing TNA can do is rush Magnus into the world title and have fans suddenly turn on him. He only became a face in the beginning of this year. He is clearly getting over with the live crowds (a huge benefit to being on the road) but he is one guy that TNA has to be careful with as he is young and has a chance to be the face of the company both domestically and internationally. I think waiting six more months to a year for his title win is a better idea. He hasn't had a real feud since turning face, other than Aces and Eights. Letting him work with each member of EGO until he gets to the title is a better idea, IMO.

Shoe-horning him into the BFG main event, while I wouldn't have had a problem with it, had the potential to backfire. The last thing TNA needs is the fans to think he was pushed too quickly and turn on him because of it.

Daniels can never be a face. He was hot in 95 during the CDI Tournament. Then Samoa Joe came and he turned face in order to help out AJ. His starpower quickly declined. The only gimmick Daniels excels in is the delusional cult leader role.

Personally I'd like to see the belt on Roode, he's my favorite heel in all of wrestling currently (Roode doesn't have to rely on cheap heat like Bully does) and does well as a dominant belt holding heel.

well seeing how this has been what many of us expected the moment AJ lost the "no more title shots til BFG" match against Roode and...um...storm? hardy? this was pretty much expected for me.

Roode and Aries weren't going to win since it was heel and i guess aries is tweener-ish with face tendencies at this moment- but they already did aries/bully. Had they not basically locked it in that AJ was winning the BFG series i would have expected Magnus to win it being the only other face and the whole MEM vs aces & 8s thing coming to a head. Magnus kinda got stuck on the outside by circumstances. i did have a brief hope spot when EGO came running in and thought maybe they'd do the triple threat route to at least get Magnus in the match but no such luck.

on the other hand i was suprised to see Magnus beat Roode to make the finals face vs face (though at least that made it less predictable- if not for the AJ lock factor- than face vs heel for heel champ match) so at least he made it to the finals match anyway. the way they kept focusing on a disappointed Magnus post match makes me think somethings going to change with him soon.

AJ/Bully doesn't sound all that enticing to me, but I'm not a big Styles fan and Bully has been dragged down so much by this awful stable of his. At the same time, I can't think of another title match I'd rather see given the circumstances. I'm a big fan of Austin Aries but I don't feel he's been built up properly for the biggest match of the year. So, it's hard to say if it's the best possible title bout for BFG, because Aces N' Eights never having existed is the best possible scenario to me. With all that's happened, I guess it is the best way to go, but they've dicked it up by pacing AJ's story poorly from the jump, and now that he's "shooting" all the time I'm really not into it.

Whole thing's pretty much a mess. I think they'll have a great match though.
