I think more kids saw these particular R-rated movies than you'd think. Don't doubt the power of permissive parents and cool uncles! Also, I assume Toxic Crusaders was made to do that whole "Captain Planet" type of thing...and besides, Toxy looks like a pretty friendly character despite how ugly he is. Part of it I'm sure is people wanted to cash in on Captain Planet's popularity by having their own enviromentally friendly super hero. But I'm sure another part of it was "The kids seem to enjoy these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we need our own cartoon in which the protagonist(s) become hero(es) after being chemically altered by toxic waste!" Yeah, I admit I fell into the "cool uncle" category when 300 came out. I took my 12 year old nephew to see it...thinking it'd just be "ancient warriors killing each other." Didn't know about the nudity and sex, LOL! Needless to say he told all his friends and parents and I became "cool." LOL!

Im surprised there was never a Remo Williams tv cartoon after the movie (It was a PG-13 movie, but still,,). Considering there were MANY Remo Williams novels, they could even shoehorn in a "reading is cool" message (then again, i've never read any of the books, so i dont know how "appropriate" they were).

Showgirls the animated series. It's like Jem, except it's dancing instead of playing music. And she gets her powers enhanced when ever she's in the pool.

This board has shown a lot of restraint by not posting the Watchmen Saturday morning cartoon opening.

M*A*S*H the rated R movie spawned both the beloved TV series and a series of 9 cartoons called M*U*S*H which were a segment on a Saturday morning TV show on CBS called Uncle Croc's Block.

Eh, the Clerks series is sort of an exception, I'm sure...as it can be closer to the movie (I'm guessing) than the other examples mentioned.

Something tells me that if Bruce Lee lived, we would have seen a Bruce Lee cartoon (with Bruce's sidekicks John Saxon and Jim Kelly).

That's easy, base it on Army Of Darkness and since it's a children's cartoon and you can't use Dead in the title, it'll be called "Ash and the evil skeletons". his Chainsaw hand is replaced with a magic sword and the "Boomstick" is a magic artifact that looks like an actual stick instead of a shotgun. They can keep the shotgun, but it shoots lasers just like every gun in every '90's cartoon.

Considering the BruceSplotation that was going on after Bruce Lee died, I'm surprised we DIDN'T still get that. Though now I'm picturing a Bruce Lee version of "Jackie Chan Adventures".

Bruce Lee might've voiced a toon with HB , he specifically mentions it in his last July 20th ' 73 letter.

The Terminator especially after T2. And while not R rated, I'm surprised neither Gremlins or Jurassic Park were toons

The Jurassic Park cartoon I could see almost running on the same principals as the Jumanji cartoon.

Out of all the movies turned into cartoons, I'm still somewhat surprised that that was the one which got a proper ending. If only more series were allowed to. Then again, for most of the ones that were turned from movies, there is no real need for a full ending. The Highlander cartoon needed one, yes...and maybe the Conan one (not sure on that). But the others seemed like they could have continued for a while.

Go back to page 1 and you'll see there was at least one in the works for Aliens. An animated Terminator series would have been a trick to work out, I'm sure. Anyone here wanna take a stab at it?

You could probably make a Terminator cartoon loosely based on T2. Each week, T800 protects John Connor from a new Terminator, and they're on a quest to find the missing Sarah Connor.
