If I could make a suggestion...how about we all stop hating eachother?
In my 6 years here I don't think I've ever seen a bigger trend of smark vs. anti-smark than right now. We get it, everyone sucks but you.
Let's just have fun again, and not at eachothers expense. Because this shit is really making me wish Madison went through with shutting the WWE board down a few years back.

It's both, really. Fans could do with waking up a little bit about WWE hearing what 'they' want when the fans often want different things. WWE also needs to start catering to its audience more instead of trying to break the mainstream. They have a pre-made audience right there and they should start entertaining it instead of putting their own personal feelings ahead of what will sell. They're really not learning the obvious lesson that so many wrestling failures have taught us - whoever it was booking AWA that wouldn't give Hogan the title (Verne Gagne was it?), the failure of the InVasion, WCW's continuing 'let the heels win because they sell merch' attitude that eventually killed their business - which is that the fans make it very obvious what works and what doesn't.
This past year or so they are finally starting to get it, it seems, albeit not consistently - Fandango getting a push because of how his song caught fire, lots of new stars (Wyatts, Shield, Brad Maddox), a salting of old-school stars to try to pop buyrates and keep long time fans happy (Rock, Brock, Paul Heyman), Punk getting the title for a year, Bryan getting a main event push.
Honestly? I'm not sure if I want Bryan to win this Sunday - I think maybe we need some more time to be begging for it first. Also, Show is most likely to just turn heel on Bryan anyway, so that'll likely happen, but what happens AFTER Sunday is the real issue here. It will show for certain whether WWE is doing what it wants to do or actually listening to its audience.

Wrestling fans need to learn how to co-exist with each other. There are people who are basically uncritical of wrestling. Wrestling is wrestling and they like wrestling. There are people who are very critical of wrestling (like me!), they feel like they've seen good wrestling and they've seen bad wrestling and if they feel like they're seeing good wrestling turn bad or bad wrestling perpetuate itself they're going to bitch about it. This is ok, this is fine. There's an entire spectrum between these two points, and I think we could all work better at accepting each other's differences of opinion and perspective without feeling compelled to fold on our inclinations one way or another. I feel the same way. The problem for me is that since I'm a part of the former group I often feel it's better for me to not share my opinions at all. Seems like posters in that group get treated like they're being purposely being contrarian all the time, when really they just don't have the same criticisms or favorite wrestlers as those in the latter group.

While there are some people who are seemingly incapable of being patient, a lot of the fault is with HOW WWE books. They are very formulaic and very rarely deviate from said formula. If they have a story, a rivalry or feud between two wrestlers, they book it the same exact way month after month, filling up TV time the exact same way regardless of who's involved. They don't ever think outside the box. They do the same exact things over and over. Things like "unlikely partners" beating established teams. Things like the babyface destroying the heel's property. Things like whoever is going to win at the PPV being laid out on the go home show. Every week is a rinse and repeat of the same exact parlor tricks and plot devices used the previous months by others. So ergo, people get impatient. They know Bryan's going to get f***ed. They know he's not winning right now or is going to get his ass kicked 3/4 weeks going into PPVS. It leaves very little room for suspense.

It seems that way because there are a couple of posters who definitely ARE that way. * Everyone has their own opinion but when every single thing you post is contrarian, you're gonna get called contrarian. And if you think I'm BSing, I recall a time one poster even admitted to doing as such.

Can I just say I don't understand why people get so annoyed at the use of generalizations for conversation purposes. Every.single.time. someone generalizes wrestling fans (or "the IWC" ect) someone bitches about it. Demanding to be the exception, NEEDING to be the special little butterfly that is separate from the group norm.
Like of COURSE there are exceptions. No group can be defined by any single quality other than the core quality that defines the group (wrestling fans are all fans of wrestling and thats probably the only label they all have in common, unless you're pedantic enough to point out they're all human or something).
The generalization is made because the author observes a trend within a noticeable majority of the group to where the generalization becomes a helpful tool in conversation.
On topic yes wrestling fans sometimes display a startling lack of patience and recent events have really exposed that.

From my perspective, the impatience shown by wrestling fans is more indicative of society we live nowadays. I'm struggling how to express this, but I'll have a go.
Just to take two examples, look at music and look at sports. A lot of musicians nowadays are considered if they've flopped or succeed on their first album/record, and if its the former, they lose their record deal. Managers in the English Premier League have to almost be hit the ground running in their first 10 games, or they get the chop.
It's less about impatience of wrestling fans, more about the impatience of society as a whole. We want success and we want quickly, otherwise then it is failure. When the WWE can create successful one off angles like Punk-shoot and Nexus debut out of nowhere, there is expectation this can be achieved all the time.
I apologise if that didn't make much sense.

I don't like being referred to as "The IWC" because for one thing it's almost always brought up as a negative. I don't blame anyone for getting annoyed with "The IWC doesn't like anything" or any of the many stupid, negative generalizations that include the term IWC. I didn't join any special club simply by both being a fan of wrestling and being on the internet.

But the OP made a pretty innocuous generalization and got a few similar reactions.

Wasn't it something like 7 shows in a row that ended with a heel giving a beatdown? I don't blame people for revolting.

I wouldn't say it was an innocuous generalization, but that's mostly because I have no idea what that means Just kidding. I agree with a lot of the posts in this topic, but I think Patcy brings up a mighty fine point. You are my favorite user of this website I just want you to know that.

Yes, let's blame the group of people who, even when they respond as a live audience member or a Nielsen viewer, have no real control or say over the booking of the product because the office is going to go ahead anyway and book the angles that they want on TV and PPV and push the talent to the forefront of the product that they want to see pushed.
Wrestling fans: the worst thing imaginable to the wrestling business.

Yes, and I don't blame them either even though I'm not a person that would revolt. My thought was that people are so used to seeing the face be the big damn hero in these handicap situations and fight them off easily (for example, Cena), that the one guy that doesn't (Bryan) looks weak in comparison, and the fear and paranoia is that the longer Bryan keeps looking helpless in these situations (despite the fact that everyone would probably help him if they were allowed to), the white-hot reactions will gradually disappear until WWE can safely shuffle him back to the midcard level that the fans think that WWE think "he belongs at" and leaves the main event to "the real stars", if that makes sense.
