Just remembered to bring this up. What was up with that announcement on Raw, after Ziggler beat Ambrose? Was it because there were some people in the thread confused as to if it was a title match and, presumably, some others outside of it, because I'd think Ziggler not being announced as the champion would've clarified it on its own.
Or was it a thing because he's a Triple H guy, like, "Well, Dolph beat us tonight, but we still have the title!"
Or is that just something that WWE is going to do now when champions lose non-title matches? Because if it is, we'll probably be hearing, "Still Intercontinental Champion, Curtis Axel!" a lot.

They did it for Del Rio at the PPV too, and for Sandow after he lost (yet again) to RVD on Monday. They think it's a good tactic to build heat for their heels, but all it's doing is reinforcing their stupid method of having their title holders lose non-title matches all the time to build up challengers instead of, you know, having an actual division.
Yes I know Del Rio lost by DQ but you know they would do the same next time he gets pinned on TV.

That came off as more of a smug, "Yeah, but!" than anything, which fits his character fine. The Ambrose thing did feel like a cheap shot, though.

This is a semi-regular thing, I've seen it at plenty of shows, but not all shows for some reason, where the champion is still announced as champion.
And also, much as folks on here like to complain about wrestling being dumbed down, we still get lots of people either missing the point or only partially watching so they don't understand - with both Sandow and Dolph, people were constantly predicting that they would cash in on the WWE champion when their briefcase was for the WHC.

Yeah I hate it when they do this usually but I, myself, was not sure whether this was a title match or not so I understand them announcing it this time just to clarify that the title was not on the line. On commentary all they said was this is a rematch from last night's PPV, and although the announcer didn't explicitly say this was a United States Championship match it was still not totally clear whether or not it was a title match. So I give them a pass on this one, but I hate when they do it usually for heat for the heel - when in reality it just makes them look like a schmuck. Sandow gets a free pass too because he does the announcements himself rather than having the ring announcer do it (although would it hurt to have your MITB contract holder win more often than not?!)

His theme song beat RVD's this week, that's something.

It made sense for Del Rio, they do that a lot when they get DQ'd on purpose.
Ambrose's was just plain weird though, like really unneccessary.

In terms of the MITB briefcase, I find most people that predicted that don't trust the WWE to abide by their own rules.
