Okay, here's the deal folks. I just want to take the time to show appreciation to the fact that the New Corporation not only has several victims, but they all have their own side story within the overall angle. Fans have been comparing this angle to Austin/McMahon, but one difference is that Austin was the sole protagonist and all the other faces (other than maybe Undertaker and DX) were off doing their own things. But in the current angle, we have multiple faces doing more than just getting random beatdowns for the sake of adding heat to the heels. Let's evaluate the players.
Daniel Bryan: Obviously the focus and hero of this angle. He's the one who served as the catalyst of this angle and has been screwed out of being WWE Champion twice. Everyone has essentially rallied behind Bryan.
Big Show: The big guy who has been forced every week to do the Corporation's bidding against his own will. Bad storytelling aside, he is another face who has consistently been victimized by the heels (Stephanie McMahon, moreso. Only, he's been used more as an unwilling tool or pawn instead of constantly being attacked, and it's inevitable that he'll finally fight back.
Cody Rhodes: Another face who could've just hung out in the background or joined the Yes Brigade. Instead, the Corporation actually took action and fired him. But instead of just disappearing during his honeymoon, the side plot continued with family members coming in to try to secure his job. This continued into this past Monday, where it converged with the Big Show's storyline.
Dolph Ziggler: While not as layered and developed as the above plots, Ziggler has been a regular victim of the Corporation, mostly being put up against The Shield. He's essentially established as one of the guys officially fighting against the Corporation and an ally of Daniel Bryan.
The Miz: Although he was mostly a background character, he got more involved this week. He was attacked, not by The Shield, but by Randy Orton. And with Orton being the Corporation's golden boy, Miz is basically involved in a program with the Corporation's No. 2 heel instead of the soldiers (The Shield). Adding to the situation was that the attack occurred in front of Miz's parents, adding to the drama.
In addition, we have The Usos as frequent opponents of The Shield. On top of that, guys like Rob Van Dam, The Prime Time Players and Kofi Kingston appear to be getting more involved.
At the end of the day, this entire angle is on a level above previous ones involving the boss because multiple guys are falling victim and being targeted for one reason or another. This really adds another level to this storyline, and that'll only help in the long run.
What do you all think?
