Now, the most selfish thing Bischoff did while in charge of WCW was the institution of the Hog/Road Wild PPVs. Bischoff had an annual pay-per-view in the middle of the Sturgis biker rally and therefore had no real live gate since it was free for the bikers at the rally to see. Now, many believe that Bischoff did this to basically give himself a free trip to the Sturgis underwritten by Turner (and later Time Warner). Bischoff himself kind of admits this in Controversy Creates Cash when he mentions the allure of Sturgis is that the biker rally is always something he always wanted to attend but never had the time and money to do it. Although he tried to mitigate the situation by claiming that he also did to help WCW's brand by making them accessible to blue collar brands such as Harley-Davidson. Which does make sense seeing as how Bischoff notes that high end brands such as Lexus wouldn't be caught dead advertising on a pro wrestling show and that the blue collar brands are a lot more attainable to pro wrestling and have some credibility to them. But I think that's just Bischoff rationalizing those PPVs so it doesn't look like he sacrificed live gate dollars for the August PPV so he can indulge in his motorcycle enthusiasm.
That is a fairly long prologue to ask my question: If you were in Eric Bischoff's shoes and you ran a major pro wrestling promotion that was owned by a media conglomerate and you had the same budget (adjusted for a decade and a half for inflation) and the same amount of autonomy that Bischoff enjoyed in the Turner/Time Warner structure what event, happening or whatever that you desperately want to attend but never had the both the time and money to do so would you hold a pro wrestling event at so you can indulge in one of your interests?
