I was thinking about it earlier and, I'm not sure if this has been considered or posted elsewhere on the board so sorry if it was, it really seems like WWE is trying to adhere to both lines of thought in regards to titles in wrestling. On one hand, you have the Corporate line of thought where they want Randy Orton to be the WWE champion because he's more marketable than Bryan. In their (kayfabe) minds, the WWE title is nothing more than something you stick on somebody to drive up ratings, buyrates, and merchandise sales while wrestling ability is an afterthought. On the other hand, Daniel Bryan wants to win the WWE title to prove that he is the single best wrestler that WWE has to offer.
I could be overthinking things, I could be misinterpreting them too but if this is actually what's happening, I think it adds a really fascinating sort of depth and nuance to the storyline that I personally didn't think was there before.

While we're talking about ideas for this angle, I think Miz should turn heel after realizing that not a single f*** was given while he was being slaughtered in front of his mom and dad, whereas everyone came to Bryan's rescue at the end of the night.

You raise a damn good point and a great idea sir.
