The Nitro Grill was never the same after Vince Russo took over as head chef. Who knew that people didn't like ordering a cheeseburger, but actually getting a fish sandwich? You'd think they would send somebody big to do the opening, not random mid card guys.

That was when he first started as head chef. I was there a couple of months later. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak, he told me they were a dry cleaning service.

I just had a huge nostalgia giggle watching this show...because of a Hot Pockets commercial.

I hate to be "that guy" but isn't posting links to full shows against the rules?

I actually had the first Nitro on tape, I used to tape random Nitros on the same tapes that I had old PPVs on. It was weird when you finish up a WCW PPV with the credits and then go to a Nitro from February 1996.

Because I don't think I've ever even heard of Alexander, Chase Tatum and Bret Hamner.

Alexander is Alex Wright, but the other two I never heard of.

Yeah, I don't know why they are referring to Alex Wright (or Berlyn as he looks to be) as "Alexander."

It was weird when you finish up a WCW PPV with the credits and then go to a Nitro from February 1996. I did the same thing, although the episode of Raw would at least be somewhat recent to said-PPV. (I have the ECW is RAW show after my '97 Royal Rumble.) The rest of them would usually have the Raw/Nitro after whatever PPV. I wish they would do that with their PPV DVDs, that way you can see the backlash of what happened after said-PPV.

Did anybody in WCW explain why they had credits at the end of the PPV?

Did anybody in WCW explain why they had credits at the end of the PPV? Well, besides being different than what WWF was doing at the time, there was a tradition before of credits for PPVs. The first WestleMania had credits to it.

Growing up, I always wondered who Martin Lunde was when I watched the credits on WCW PPV's.

I'm a pretty big WCW fan and recognize Alex Wright, Dale Torborg and Glacier from that photo (And Mean Gene, ofc) I'm not 100% sure on who Chase Tatum is but I think he may of been the big guy in the No Limit Soldiers. As for Bret Hammer I've never heard of the guy and I own every Nitro and Thunder from 99 and 2000. He must of been a WCW Saturday Night job guy or a Worldwide jobber.

Typical WCW sending some of the lowest card guys (two who probably never even made it to the card and knowing WCW were probably paid too) to the opening of Nitro Grill.
Some office assistant probably sent the names out and listed Wright as "Alexander." The other two guys will probably get unknowing fans to buy signed photos at conventions claiming they were in WCW.

Did anybody in WCW explain why they had credits at the end of the PPV? I'm fairly certain it's because they were all union members and employees of Turner Home Entertainment and thus contractually promised proper credits.
