Click this to see it.For those that have never seen it, here you go. Few comments. -Ah, the classic "Appropos" line by Mongo. -I wonder how many of those stores in the Mall of America are now either closed or moved. -It's refreshing in a way to watch a Monday Nitro without nWo antics. -It's sad and funny that Vader made the original Monday Nitro intro despite never having a match on Nitro. -This line...just no: <Mongo>Hogan's too much of a technician...

I wish they would've done more shows at the Mall of America. I really think all the different, non-arena locations really set WCW apart. It may not have made good business sense, but it looked cool as hell in TV and made WCW really look like it was much more popular than the WWF even if it wasn't
And definitely agree about the NWO comment. I've been making my way through my nitro sets recently and while pretty-NWO Nitro was often pretty bad, at least it was fun. Once the NWO started squashing people every week, it became one of the most consistently dark and unsettling shows I've ever seen on TV. It almost always put you in a worse mood than you were when you started watching it. It's no fun watching your heroes be outsmarted and beat every week for years.

WCW having shows in places like malls, swimming pools and biker gatherings reminds me of locations you might have in some unrealistic wrestling video game. Not saying it was bad, I like the different settings. Im so sick of WWE looking the same on everyshow these days, so boring. I hate the HD era of wrestling, I even thought Impact looked worse when it went HD even though I know there's no stopping it, I suppose I just like a more old school raw look.

-This line...just no: <Mongo>Hogan's too much of a technician... Well, if we are comparing Hogan to the guy who made that statement, Hogan might just be one hell of a technician.

And who can forget the announcers raving about REY MYSTERIC? Alot of fire in that youngster.

Bobby the STAIN!!! *smug grin*
If Pastamania was still around, I would actually make a road trip to say I'd eaten there. The look on Bischoff's face during that whole segment was almost HBK/McMahon level.

Hogan probably figured on dethroning Chef Boyardee as the most popular brand of spaghetti. Does anything he does outside of wrestling ever turn to anything but crap? I would love to hear George Foreman deny the Hogan fib (lie?) about the grill.
It's amazing though, to think about how much WCW had changed in a year with the n w o. WWF during the same time a year later was just about the same. I seem to remember Sultan debuting right around the same time in 1996.

Apparently Hogan hand-picked Big Bubba for the match since he really like working with him in 1989. Just an interesting tidbit.

They probably thought they could capture any aura that a Hogan vs. Bossman rematch might have had, even if there was none.

Big Bubba didn't have Slick in his corner like he did as Big Boss Man during the WWF Hogan feud.

Pastamania closed exactly one year later.
I know this because I was at the Mall of America that following summer right around my birthday (August 14th) and walked past it with friends, thinking the next time I was there I should dine at it.
The next time I was back was Labor Day weekend and it had already closed.

What would have made it better is if someone shoplifted during the show, and everyone paid attention to that instead.

That sort of "Oh, I'll just eat there the next time" mentality is the reason Pastamania is no longer with us.

I always got a kick out of Hogan randomly asking the crowd around him who the greatest wrestler of all time was. Amazing how insecure some of these "big names" are.

I want to say it was during early '99 or thereabouts, when they had the new fugly WCW logo. I always wanted to eat there. And also, "The Nitro Grill" is the coolest, most badass-sounding name for a restaurant there ever was or will be.

Makes me wonder which place had better food: the WCW Nitro Grill or WWF New York.
