Kojima/Shibata should be a real gem, along with Ishii/Tanahashi obviously. The rest of Day 6 is lackluster looking but that happens.

Shibata has delivered the god damn goods in every match so far. I think New Japan seriously needs to consider Shibata as the one to dethrone AJ.
One other thing that I was thinking of that interests me. If New Japan doesn't fully ever get behind Shibata and his good friend KENTA winds up finding success in WWE, I wonder if Shibata would consider joining him?

He just looks and wrestles like someone who should be champ. Also, considering that Okada owned that belt for a while, and Nakamura/Tanahashi are played out, I think Shibata's got to be the next champ as Naito's still not that over, and I doubt Goto ever gets it or Makabe gets another run (and he was pretty boss as champ), I think Shibata is the perfect candidate for the strap when AJ's time is up.

Is Yujiro vs Machine Gun the first time it's ever been Bullet Club vs Bullet Club in an NJPW tournament?

I've already got her crushing on Seth Rollins because I showed her a picture of him just because her and him have the same half black hair blonde hair going on.

Shibata is a guy who should have been the GUY before he left and i have never heard the full story so i can't comment on why he left but dude seems to almost lack passion but still has enough to put on great matches like Lesnar yes. he was handpicked by Inoki to be the GUY in NJPW many years ago, because Inoki had a hard-on for strong / MMA style. when NJPW wasn't doing well back then, he left them to pursue other things (i.e - freelance and MMA), while others like Tanahashi stuck through thick and and thin and helped them to grow as #1 company in Japan. his post NJPW adventures weren't at all rosy. his MMA career was pretty much a bust. to this day, there's some heat between Shibata and Tanahashi. you can read more about Shibata-Tanahashi heat here -> yottsumepuroresu.blogspot.jp/2014/05/njpw-hiroshi-tanahashi-talks-about-his_22.html i believe this is his time now. this guy has been AMAZING for more than a year. almost always puts best match of the night. like 2002 Chris Benoit level good. he deserves the title more than anyone else.

I don't like Shibata losing to Nagata, but he could still wind up in a tie with Nakamura or Tanahashi and win the tie breaker due to beating them both. Are we getting a semi-final prior to the final match this year?
My guess is that we get a G1 final consisting of Shibata vs Naito with Shibata winning.
Naito has wins over Okada and Styles. Okada and Styles would need to beat Naito in points in order to get passed him since he owns the tie breaker on both of them. Shibata has wins over Nakamura and Tanahashi. Shibata needs to only tie Nakamura/Tanahashi since he owns the tie breaker on both of them. I'm predicting that Fale and Benjamin will more or less be spoilers than actual contenders for the G1 finals.
Naito has Goto, Suzuki, Tenzan, and Anderson left. Naito should at least beat Suzuki and Tenzan, Goto might be his only loss of the four. Shibata has Honma, Fale, Iishi, and Gallows left. Shibata beats Honma, Iishi and Gallows. I think Shibata beating Fale is what clinches it for him. Okada has Takahashi, Goto, Archer, and Suzuki left. I see Goto or Suzuki playing spoiler for Okada. Styles has Archer, Anderson, Takahashi, and Makabe left. I'm calling a loss to Anderson and Makabe spoiling it for Styles. That would also give him a potential title defense against Makabe and perhaps some tension in Bullet Club with Anderson. Nakamura has Tanahashi, Kojima, Gallows, and Fale left. I'm going out on a limb and saying that Tanahashi and Fale beat Nakamura. Tanahashi has Nakamura, Benjamin, Nagata, and Smith, Jr. left. I think Tanahashi's only lost in the final four matches could be to Benjamin.
I think how it winds up playing out is that we get a 3 way tie between Shibata, Nakamura, and Tanahashi which Shibata wins by way of beating Nakamura and Tanahashi. Naito gets to the finals by way of outright winning B Block.

not sure if you anyone watched it or not, Minoru Suzuki vs AJ Styles was AWESOME. I think this will get 5 stars from Meltzer.
TOP NOTCH psychology from AJ and some fantastic tweener work by Suzuki.
Styles has been monster in this tournament so far.

Styles vs Suzuki was brilliant.
Minoru Suzuki is THE man amongst the older generations.
It's easy to forget sometimes that he debuted at the same time Mutoh did.

Are we getting a semi-final prior to the final match this year? No. As for predictions for the rest of the tournament go, I agree with Naito winning Block B. However, I have Nakamura going all the way. With Okada beating AJ on night one, they've already given a good excuse for Okada to get another rematch which I think he will win. I think 1/4/15 is when they finally pull the trigger on Okada vs Nakamura and I think my scenario is the most logical way to set up that match.
