I was kind of disappointed, the show didn't really pick up until after intermission.
As much as I enjoy the New Japan product, it seems like it's become a thing on forums now to hype New Japan as much as possible. And complain about WWE while you're at all.

Not as good a show as last year, but the entrances were amazing. Okada/Naito was the best match on the show, and should have been the main event. I'd have Goto/Shibata and Nakamura/Tanahashi joint second.
The Gracies match was as big of a fail as I feared it would be.

Got really good once the Bullet Club were sent to the back. Ibushi forgot to sell a chairshot to his back and a powerbomb on the ring apron, and was flipping about mere minutes later.

So, this being the third January I've spent in Tokyo, about 90 minutes before the start I decided that, yeah, maybe I should go to the Dome this year. I was a bit surprised that I managed to buy a ticket, visit the merchandise table, get a burger (expensive!), and yet get in with time to spare considering the huge crowd in the area. However, I missed the dark match. When was that? I think I got into the building about 15 minutes before the start of the show, but there was no trace of a match by then. Buying my ticket on the same day gave me a seat on the second highest row of the Dome Good thing I remembered my binoculars. I haven't followed any NJPW storylines at all, so I had to figure it out as they went. And holy crap, that opening match made it really hard to get who was a heel and who was a face, when everyone was cheered at some point or another. In fact, I was surprised when the Young Bucks later came out with the Bullet Club. "Whoa, they were supposed to be heels this whole time?"
Fun to see so many title changes, and I loved Goto vs Shibata. Also, great to see Harley Race - who I had no idea would be there - getting a very respectful reaction from the crowd (I heard someone a bit away basically go "Harley? Wow!") During the presentation of the card at the beginning, Muta got the biggest pop (not very big itself, but relative to the rest), but when it came to the matches, Kojima was really popular with the crowd. I thought that if Conway were to retain, they'd be quite disappointed. I don't know exactly what Muta's character is currently, but to me he came across as a Terry Funk-ish crazy old guy who just does whatever he feels like. The only match I didn't like at all was the Gracie one, which didn't seem to go anywhere. Photos: smg.photobucket.com/user/sparvid/library/Dome And the best part: I now have a shirt with Rob Conway's name on it. How many people can say that?

Ryusuke Taguchi is returning next month, and he's going after Prince Devitt.
And after today's show at Korakuen Hall, the top three matches for the big Osaka show look like being Okada vs. Goto for the IWGP Title, Tanahashi vs. Nakamura in a rematch for the IC Title, and Naito vs. Ishii.

I have a feeling that Goto will fall to Okada (even though I really want Goto to win), which will bring out Shibata as Okada's challenger.

* From double main event to NEVER...Naito must build his way back up, but for now has been challenged by Ishii for a NEVER Openweight Title Match.
* Ryusuke Taguchi saved Honma from a Devitt beatdown following that match. Taguchi announced his long awaited return from injury and to no surprise, former friend turned betrayer Prince Devitt will be his target.

TAKA Michinoku is reportedly done with New Japan, he'll be heading to All Japan. That's a bummer, TAKA in Suzuki-gun has been awesome. Perhaps this will free up Taichi to finally get a shot at the singles Jr. title.

Could this be the end of Suzuki Gun? I believe Suzuki isnt book on any of the upcoming shows, and if he was to follow TAKA into All-Japan, god knows they could use someone of Suzuki caliber.

Hopefully now Devitt will get a full time main eventer spot, Ibushi is a great choice (always liked the guy since I first saw him in his tour of ROH a few years back) to take it off him now and their looks to be a load of new and interesting matches for him/the championship now. I got a few moments from the match gifed for you lot, shall try and get some more matches from the event made tomorrow. Enjoy
