I didn't understand the concept of a champion when I was a kid. I figured they were competing for just the physical belt as I did often think "that is a nice belt." I was the same way, in fact I thought that winning King of The Ring was the best thing you could do, since that meant you were THE KING of the WWF. That sounded more important to just holding a belt. In fact I started watching wrestling right before King of the Ring 1993, and I didn't understand why Hogan and Yokozuna didn't want to be in the tournament to be the King. For some reason I thought the King of The Ring was gonna be a title that gets defended much in the same way the WWF World, Intercontinental and World Tag Team Titles are defended. It didn't help matters that after King of The Ring '93 Bret Hart wrestled Jerry Lawler to determine who the "real king of the WWF" would be. Plus you had Jim Duggan beating Haku for his crown and then Randy Savage beat Duggan to become the "Macho King".

Had no idea who Dire Straits were... so when Jim Cornette referred to Stan Lane as "The Sultan Of Swing"... I thought that meant he was really good at the swing set.
Also, I swore the regular matches were pre-determined, but title matches were real.

Someone once posted a picture of a King of the Ring title belt on here, I forget the story behind it too. Just remember seeing it.

Count me on the Val Venis stuff. Pretty much any innuendo during the Attitude Era too (unless it was really obvious).

Also, I swore the regular matches were pre-determined, but title matches were real. I used to answer the "it's fake" taunts as a kid by explaining that it used to be fake when you had giants, body-builders and basically cartoon characters having slow, boring, plodding matches that sucked, but it's real now because you had real people like a bald red-neck, a family wearing pink, a zombie, a mutilated freak, a gold-painted movie buff, a male stripper, an aristocrat with a female bodyguard and a guy in an Hawaiian shirt fighting such intense matches that even the owner of the company was losing control of things. It made sense to me

The WWF scratch logo. As a kid I never understood why they changed the clean shiny WWF logo into that dirty looking tacky thing. I still don't understand it.

Well the first one was The famous Mega Powers vs Mega Bucks match. As a 7 yr old, I wondered why Andre and Ted would be so shocked by Elizabeth's underwear, which was clearly a bathing suit. I though "Haven't they ever seen a woman naked at their age. why would underwear be shocking, I've seen girls underwear and I'm seven?"
Speaking of being seven, I always wondered why WWF would let the babyfaces get beaten up before matches. Where was security???
Why most of the WCW roster didn't just quit and sue Bishoff during the nWo angle.
I don't get why Hulk Hogan gets cheered in TNA...at all.

Heels taunting during match/after beatdown, effectively turning their back on an opponent/victim they've only spent the better part of a minute working over:
Am I supposed to hate you because you're arrogant, or because you're stupid?

I did once find myself having to justify to someone why the police did nothing to stop Kane locking The Undertaker in a casket and then setting it on fire. I could just about reason the police not getting involved in the wrestling matches, but that wasn't anything to do with competition. It was attempted murder.

I'll admit to legitimately writing a complaint letter when Brock Lesnar won the King of the Ring instead of RVD

For the longest time I believed this
