Part-time WWE star Chris Jericho says he wanted to tattoo his initials on C.M. Punk as part of their feud in 2012. Jericho says the "personal" development in their feud was initially approved until Vince McMahon shot it down last-minute.
"The alcoholism thing was not the way we were originally going to go," Jericho told satellite radio show host Sam Roberts in a new interview. "The original idea was I wanted to tattoo him, which Vince approved, then pulled it. Punk wanted to do it, but Vince didn't get it. He was like, 'He's got a million tattoos, what difference does it make?' I said, 'Vince, it doesn't matter. All of those tattoos mean something to him. It would be me desecrating him."
Jericho added, "Somebody who probably doesn't have a lot of tattoos told him that tattoos create blood. And as soon as he heard that, he turned his mind on it. ... I think other people didn't like it, and Vince agreed with those other people. But, it's too bad, because it would have been a great angle. So, we went with the alcoholism thing, which still ended up being good."
Also in the interview, Jericho talked in-depth about his most-famous "personal" feud with Shawn Michaels five years ago, which Jericho said he and Michaels wrote about "75 percent of," along with the writing team. Jericho said he felt like that 2008 feud with Michaels cemented him as a top star in McMahon's eyes.
