I am sure we've gone on ad infinitum about the crowd reactions in wrestling events...over at DVDVR, there has started a discussion about audience reactions for movies. You can read it here to get an idea: deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/717-best-audience-reactions-youve-heard-in-a-movie-theater/So that said, what are the: - Biggest pop(s) for something in a movie you've witnessed? - Most negative heat for something etc etc? - Strangest reaction to something etc. etc.? - Funniest reaction to etc. etc. etc.?

Someone gasped really loudly at the end of Inception when it cut to black.

I went to see Son of the Mask in theaters with my friend and literally everyone walked out of that piece of shit not even halfway through.

I remember quite a few people cursing at the screen after The Village's ending.
When I saw the Departed in theaters, people gasped and yelled "Holy Shit!" when Leo's character got his head blown off.
Funniest would have to be the whole theater rolling on the floor laughing when Loki got squashed by the Hulk.

My friend Jon and I went to see Chronicles of Riddick during opening weekend. Packed house. Jon's a huge guy, former football player, roughly 6 and a half feet tall, at least 350 lbs. He's very well-spoken and soft-spoken normally. As the movie ends and the credits start to roll, he stands up, holds out his arms and bellows "What the f*** was that!?!?!??"

The crowd and atmospheres for "Deathly Hallows Part 2", "The Avengers", and "Expendables 2" was one of the best atmospheres I've ever been in. The crowd was hot and people loved it.

Biggest pop was for Yoda's light saber battle in whichever episode of Star Wars that was. The theater was packed and everyone was losing their collective shit.
All time favorite is after the previews before Goldmember when it goes black and silent before the movie starts some guy says: "Does anyone mind if I take off my pants?" Everyone laughed.
During Saw when Danny Glover is onscreen about halfway through some guy stands up and says: "I'm getting too old for this shit" and walks out and never returns.

Watched Star Wars Episode 3 on IMAX. Place is packed. During the scene where Yoda leaves the wookie planet, he calls Chewbacca by name. Room is quiet Suddenly, this guy stands up and yells "I knew it!" like he was the first person to realize Chewy was in the f***ing movie.

When I saw the first Blade and he picks up his sunglasses towards the end, the crowd applauded.
The two comedies that got the biggest laughs I can remember are the first Hangover and Just Friends.
I still wonder why that movie didn't do better, when I went to see it, the theatre was nearly full and the crowd ate it up.

These both come from my kid years.
Pokemon The Movie: When Ash walks out of the smoke. Kids went nuts. Applause everywhere.
Pokemon 2000: Digimon The Movie trailer plays before the movie. Entire audience (not me) starts BOOING.

Don't really have any weird reactions, but my favorite reaction was the entire audience freaking out when the Joker did the magic trick when I went to the midnight screening of The Dark Knight.

Freddy vs. Jason. Opening night. Myself and my friend in a theater of mostly African Americans. It was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had at a theater. You know how people stereotype (and sometimes accordingly) African American church services? It was that type of atmosphere. One moment that sticks out is in one scene, Jason obliterates a guy on a fold-up bed, then, of course, folds the bed up. One man in the theater jumped out of his chair yelling "OH SHIT! THAT n***a WASN'T DONE YET!"

In Toronto I saw snakes on a plane and the whole theatre said I'm sick and tired of these mother f***ing snakes on this mother f***ing plane.
I also saw enter the dragon with two of my friends and after Bruce lee roundhouse kicked that bearded white guy, my friend accidentally dropped his pop making a big plop noise and the whole theatre laughed.
I also heard that in the 80's, theaters cheered for Rocky and booed Ivan Drago like of they were in the crowd watching the fight

During the midnight screening for The Dark Knight, when the police caught Joker and Gordon removed his helmet to reveal he was still alive. Loudest pop I ever heard for a movie.

When I saw the first Blade and he picks up his sunglasses towards the end, the crowd applauded. I'll do you one better. I saw Blade in a dollar theater where it was just me in the 2nd row and five black ladies in the row behind me. When that scene comes up and the techno music kicked in, they all stand up flailing their arms screaming "GO WESLEY!" "WESLEY FINE AS HELL!".

The funniest thing I've ever witnessed in a theater had to do with seeing Passion of the Christ.
My mom wanted to see the movie when it was out, so she asked me to go with her. I reluctantly agreed, and after what I was lucky enough to see, I'm glad I did.
An elderly couple was sitting beside of us. The man smelled like a brewery, so I'm assuming he'd had a few before the movie. During a scene where Jesus was praying in a garden, the old woman said, "There's my Jesus!" Her husband replied (loud enough for everyone to hear), "You damn stupid woman!! That's not Jesus, that's an actor playing him!" My mom and I lost it and had to walk out of the theater.
We both hated the actual movie, but that little exchange was well worth the price of admission.

Funniest moments
- When I saw The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition, there were these 2 kids (had to be middle schoolers) talking throughout the movie. When Yoda reveals himself as Yoda to Luke one of the kids said "I told you it was Yoda." At least half the theater in unison yelled out "Shut up!" The people sitting around them had asked them to remain quiet before that, but they kept talking. They didn't make another sound after most of the theater yelled at them to shut up. I was one of them.
- I saw The Blair Witch Project and the theater was almost sold out. Everyone was pretty bored with the movie, there were no gasps, or screams. It got to a part where Heather ran out from behind a tree at night, and someone in the theater yelled "Holy shit!" The place busted out laughing.
- During the rave scene in Matrix Reloaded, someone yelled out "What the f*** is this shit?" That comment was pretty well received by the audience.
Loudest pops
- When Eowyn killed the Witch King, the theater cheered and clapped.
- At the midnight showing of Episode I, the place cheered for Obi-Wan cutting Darth Maul in half.
- Luke blowing up the Death Star in Star Wars Special Edition.
- The second the Star Wars theme started the audience cheered, and that was for all 6 movies.

After Transformers 2 I exclaimed "that was shit!" Apparently I said it loud enough that most of the people in the cinema replied with a collective, resigned "...yeah."
