How Much Wrestling News Did You Hear on Radio?

Watching Luger's KC and realizing, really, for a 80's kid, I got a lot of legit wrestling news on the radio. I recall it all. I remember hearing Andre died on the radio. I was in a van on the way to a hockey game. I remember hearing Bret won the title off Flair at a TV taping in Saskatoon on the school bus, I recall being on the way to hockey practice when I heard Kerry Von Erich killed himself.

Did anyone else hear any wrestling news on the radio?

Not on the radio, but I remember the back page of the Boston Herald sports section printing Boston Garden wrestling results up until the late 80s.

I talk about the big stuff, you know, the stuff that makes it to TMZ or something. Macho Man's death springs to mind. Played part of his entrance music before a moment of silence.

Back when I was a kid the day after each Wrestlemania I would hear the results on the local radio. Now this was only for the first 6 or so Wrestlemanias. No idea if wrestling gets mentioned on the radio anymore. Since I haven't listened to the radio in almost 20 years.

I remember the radio deejay talking about Macho Man's death, and they'll talk about it sometimes when WWE is coming to the area. But outside of this one weekend radio show playing Fozzy about ten years ago, I never heard that much about it in the past.

Not counting WCW's Radio Show, Johnathan Hood (J-Hood) used to be on ESPN1000 with a show from like 9pm-1am and every Thursday was Thunder Thursday. At 11pm, he'd talk wrestling for an hour or two. Just how storylines are going and stuff like that. I remember the chat room, and there might be 6 guys in there. I'd be chatting up this guy named OutbackJack while listening to J-Hood.

I once heard mention of New Years Revolution on BBC Radio 1.


It was JK and Joel (one of whom presents the show that comes on after impact about wrestling in the UK) just stating they plan to stay up all night and watch it.
