I agree that Punk & Grave are very different dudes, with the caveat that I'm pretty sure WWE is keepin him in the pocket for when Punk retires. They have an audience of people who like that type of dude - tats, surly attitude, punk rock look, brooding, intense.
They have very different personalities, mannerisms, wrestling styles, but I know WWE is gonna try and fill that CM Punk shaped hole in the WWE Universe's heart after he leaves with Graves.

He just drags matches down to a slow crawl, and is pretty predictable in his actions. Plus he's Punk-lite, would have been better suited in TNA where he could have been their Punk rather than be another Punk in the promotion that Punk is already in. I don't see any similarities between Graves and Punk aside from being skinny guys with lots of tats. When Graves starts wearing trunks in the motif of his hometown, then I'll call him a Punk ripoff. No one wants Pittsburgh Penguins attire.

Certainly when you compare his style to that of Adrian Neville, he does seem slower. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. You're not going to find very many who can keep to that same style that Neville has. Graves is a different beast and he does excel in what he does. Sorry, I find much of the hate unwarranted.

The Ascension bore me. I noticed Rick Victor blew an opportunity to use a pun on their name when he said, "The heroes will fall, and we will rise!" Yeah, he should have said, "We will ASCEND!" We will rise has been the Ascension's 'motto' since day 1. Well, day 1 if you ignore the period of time where they were affiliated with Ricardo Rodriguez and were nothing even remotely like they are now. Okay, I've only just started watching NXT. When I heard Victor say "rise" instead of "ascend" I thought, "What a goof!"

Big Cass talking about Rusev had me in stitches.
It's pretty crazy that Cassady was just a random dude on the roster for so long, and then they put him and Enzo together and magic happens.

Yeah Big Cass is giving me strong Edge vibes. He's a main-event-level mic worker possibly even more than Enzo (who's by himself insanely over).

That mixed tag-match was awesome, shows the difference between Santino and Riley, Santino takes the time to learn how to mesh with Emma effectively and Riley struggles with "The first lady of NXT" nickname.
This Guy was great to the point he should be a permanent part of the show under that gimmick even if it's as a jobber, maybe push it a bit further to the point he's a generic CAW without a name doing generic face moves like armdrags and cross bodies (that often get rolled through), the pop he'd get when he finally wins a match would be immense.

There was a video on one of Matt Martlaro's old accounts where he demonstrates that ably. He can talk, he can tawk like Pizahn, he can sing, he can rap. While I don't think he and Enzo should be separated any time soon (or ever, perhaps) he's the one that'll be the Michaels once he's done playing the straight guy in their double act.

Alright guys, just watched my first NXT show, but confused a bit. Can someone give me a one or two sentence synopsis of the NXT wrestlers and their gimmicks? Did enjoy the show though.

Alright guys, just watched my first NXT show, but confused a bit. Can someone give me a one or two sentence synopsis of the NXT wrestlers and their gimmicks? Did enjoy the show though. Of the ones who appeared on the show, who are not on WWE TV... Emma: A bubbly Australian girl who's in her own world and thinks her awful dance is cool... yet somehow it became cool, and everyone loves her. Probably NXT's most unorthodox Diva. Kassius Ohno: Pretty much the WWE version of Chris Hero. Wants to knock people out with his elbow, recently returned from being put out by the Wyatt Family. The Ascension: Two goth like wrestlers who have a pack mentality. Conor O'Brian was originally with Kenneth Cameron, but Cameron was released after an arrest. O'Brian was solo for a while, but Rick Victor recently joined him, assuming Cameron's old role in the team. Adrian Neville: A humble high-flyer from Newcastle in England, who's won the tag titles twice with two different partners. Doesn't get along with Corey Graves, but they work together for the sake of the team and the titles. Corey Graves: A shady character from Pittsburgh with a hard rock attitude who's popular with women. Doesn't win a lot of feuds, somehow has a submission finisher. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady: AKA Enzo and Big Cass, two guidos from the NY/NJ area, who are what Zack Ryder would have been if written properly. Enzo is a mentalist who says that everyone is SAWFT, Big Cass is his giant friend who's similar, but wonders why he puts up with Enzo sometimes. Bo Dallas: The ultimate 90s babyface... who was born in the 90s, and is therefore out of time with his style. The fans all turned on him, but he thinks they love him, and he calls them his Bolievers. Has oddly enough got some fans in the IWC since adopting the new character. Sami Zayn: The most popular wrestler on NXT (having recently overtaken Paige for that role), celebrated for having the best matches on the show. His enemies seem to think he sneaked into the country wearing a mask (scandalous accusation... olé~!), and his fans want him to get with Renee Young. Leo Kruger: A big game hunter from South Africa who's very creepy in his actions. Arguably the most popular heel on NXT.

Is it wrong that I think that mos of some of these guys, like Bo Dallas, Emma, and the two guidos, are better characters than 90% of the main roster?

At least Ohno looks good in those hipster glasses...

That promo is what initially soured me on Cassady a few years ago. He listed ways he could talk rather than putting those things to use and make me want to see him wrestle.

I'm in a weird place when it comes to NXT in general. With a lot of these guys, I kinda feel what Lance Storm talked about on that free Observer show this week. I'm beyond happy someone verbalized a nagging feeling I've had about a lot of them.
For those who didn't listen, he had an interesting point on how for a lot of these people on NXT (and for some on the main roster) their gimmicks are dead weight when it comes to serious feuds. Like, for instance, Emma's dancing. Granted, she's a diva and there's only so much they're going to do with her in the first place but he wondered what's going to happen the moment they put her in a serious feud.
Her music isn't anything you'd want to hear for a run-in and the best way people are going to take her seriously is if she stops doing the one thing that's gotten her over: her dancing. He said about the same thing when it came to Aiden English and his singing. It's good for a pop and a chant, but how is it going to work when they have to be taken seriously?
