While I am aware that WWE almost went out of business in 1997 due to WCW beating them in ratings/business every week. I once read on a Scott Keith review of Survivor Series 1995 that the offices of WWE were in the toilet at the time implying that the company was about to go bust, but I can't really find much about it. Any truth to this?

Bankruptcy doesn't mean that WWE would've gone out of business. It would've potentially protected their assets until they were in the black.
Live gates were suffering pretty badly in '95, Vince was off the heels of a series of expensive trials, and you had guys like the kliq commanding strong payoffs.

Yea, plenty of businesses have declared bankruptcy and are still with us today. But I sure do believe it...1995 was NOT a good year for WWF or WCW.

Not sure about bankruptcy but I heard somewhere that 1995 was supposedly the only year since Vince took over since 1982 in which the company overall lost money for the year.

The year Nash tanked the company with his title reign?
Was it 95 or 97 Vince was thinking of going back to a territory until he recovered?

Yea, plenty of businesses have declared bankruptcy and are still with us today. But I sure do believe it...1995 was NOT a good year for WWF or WCW. Actually 1995 was the first year WCW ever turned a profit, so compared to previous years it was a very good year for WCW. |

It was '95 when they were in enough trouble that they allegedly took the water coolers out of Titan Towers to save cash.
Funny thing is, even when they were getting their butts kicked in the ratings, pretty much the whole Monday Night Wars period helped WWF out of the hole. While Nitro was getting better ratings interest in general was raised. By '96 and '97 they were in better financial shape, and then boomed in '98.

I also heard they nearly went bankrupt in 1990.
