He only wore a shirt for his entrance, he took it off when he wrestled. Leave the (apparently false, and blocked out with good reason) memories alone.

When fan favourites have runs that are beneath fan's expectations, people always look back and think their run sucked.
Dusty wasn't going to be WWF champion, because everybody knew that he wasn't along for the long haul, whether because his in-ring days were numbered anyway, or because he would undoubtedly go back to WCW and he was only in WWF so that WCW's top brass would miss him and beg him to come back to book. In his time in WWE, he was very solid and also was able to introduce Dustin to WWE audiences, and 20+ years later he's still around.
Another one that had much of the same sort of run was Ultimo Dragon. UD had a winning record in WWE, mostly in matches that didn't matter, but... he won a lot. WWE put UD on the roster out of respect for a guy that did everything in his career that could be expected of a man his size and his age by that point, and who only wanted to wrestle for WWE, wrestle at MSG and work WrestleMania. He got to do that, and then he left. Yet people look back at it like they totally misused him and treated him badly... come on, they put the guy on the roster despite the fact he basically only has feeling in one arm, and they let him realise his dream. I don't think Ultimo feels bad about his WWE run.

I always wanted to see him and Hogan either team together or fight. They never interacted then as far as I know though. You know, that's a good question. Even though this was the time period Hogan was trying to be Hollywood movie star (No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando), he was still around off and on enough, I'm surprised it didn't happen, even as a promo at some point.

I enjoyed his WWF run given the circumstances. People seem to forget the guy was in his 40's and you had to do SOMETHING to make him stand out. Would I have gone with polka dots? No, but here we are decades later still talking about it so obviously it worked to an extent.
