I'm watching one of Rock's DVD sets, and I wasn't even aware this match happened. Rock vs. Triple H w/ Chyna in a cage.
It's quite a cleverly booked match. The ref bumps and then Rock and Trips brawl outside the cage for a while, then they brawl back into the cage and the ref wakes up.
Anyway, there's a moment where Triple H climbs down from the top of the cage... and slips and crotches himself on the top rope. He just slips. Rock doesn't push him, Chyna doesn't turn on him, Triple H just slips and nutshots himself.
Who wrote that spot? What an insane thing to put in. It also reminded me hilariously of three years later when apparently Triple H's character was too smart to not know his wife was cheating on him.
...But not smart enough to navigate the top rope.

I suppose if you wanted to be ultra-realistic about things; why wouldn't he slip on a top rope? They're greasy from man sweat, he's in a hurry. Accidents happen. It's the kind of thing that might happen but you'd never think to book it.

The thing I remember about that match is that HHH and Rock were on top of the cage, something happened to Hunter so that he fell, and then for some inexplicable reason Rock decided to get back in the ring instead of climbing over and winning the match.

I'm sure even Socrates would slip on a banana peel. You don't learn to fall off a 30 foot ladder, and you can't outsmart a lack of traction. Intelligence has nothing to do with it.

But Socrates would have know to climb down from the cage to the outside not climb into the ring and at the very least if he was climbing in just go off the turnbuckle instead of walking the ropes like an idiot. The spot made no f***ing sense. Why was he walking the ropes? What was he planning on doing that climbing down wouldn't accomplish. Best I can think of is maybe go back for the chair but then why throw it away in the first place?

They probably questioned the spot but Russo went on one of his "I get this shit, guys" rants about how it's all fake and everyone knows it and who cares blah blah blah.

I was mostly kidding, but from the sounds of it, the match had a dozen odd moves of people missing out on the win for one reason or another.

I would love to see this happen to Curtis Axel. Paul Heyman's reaction would be priceless.
