Twilight Sparkle vs. Applejack
Twilight's team is the only unbeaten team in the pony bundesliga. Will it hold the record against AJ's middling team?
Twilight: It is always hard to play against a friend as dependable as AJ, but still there is no way to beat my perfect strategy. So, no hard feelings AJ.
AJ: Twilight may be a good friend, but ya canna have a perfect strategy. Ah will prove dat today against her.
Princess Cadance vs. Carrot Top
Will Princess Cadance help her team out of the middle of the field? Or will Carrot Top finally score the first win of the season?
Princess Cadance: While I enjoy a balanced vegetarian diet, I have not the intention to become an example for Ms. Top's theories. My team will emerge victorious.
Carrot Top: I have experimented with a different approach to my vegetarian diet during the break. Hopefully this will prove more successful.
Fluttershy vs. Lyra
Coming off her first victory of the season, will it continue for Fluttershy? Or will Lyra's team make the first steps out of the middle in the ranks?
Fluttershy: Oh my, that first victory was exciting. But I continue to stress that my team should play fair and nice and give it their best.
Lyra: This should be easy. My knowledge of humans will make this as easy as a walk in the park.
Princess Luna vs. Derpy Hooves
Can Princess Luna help her team out of the doldrums? Or will Derpy score her first victory of the season?
Princess Luna: We were not very happy with the recent results. We gave our players some dreams to think about and hopefully they have learnt from them.
Derpy Hooves: Whole muffin today? Please? *pleading eyes*
Scootaloo vs. Octavia
Two teams high up in the rankings. Will the young wild one win over the cultured adult? Or vice-versa?
Scootaloo: That music she does is so boring. If her players play as boring, this should be easy.
Octavia: Harumph! Kids today have no respect! I have to teach her some manners by winning today.

The "joke" is that because alicorns are immortal, all of Twilight's and Fluttershy's friends will die before them.

I prefer to take it, if only based on how young Cadance is and how she's never really shown to be on the same level as Celestia and Luna, that being an alicorn doesn't itself make you immortal unless you're one of the fire head ones.
But yeah, glad you're enjoying the Blues chapter. Hopefully you'll like the next one too when we get there; no action in it but it does have a lot going on.
